The Lost Abbey and Port Brewing are both brands of Port Brewing Company. Both are produced by the same company, but targeted for different markets.
Our Belgian-inspired and premium beers are released under the Lost Abbey label. Either way, they’re all produced in the same brewery by the same staff.

Corked and caged 750. Pours an opaque, dark purple, maybe I want it to be violet bordering on black with a foamy slightly tan head. Close your eyes and evaluate the aroma and you’d swear this was a glass of wine with a heavy grape aroma that gives way to more subtle notes of lemony hops, dark candy and Belgian yeast. Flavor is quite unique, dark candy, dark sticky fruits, tart/funky yeast all on the front with creamy roasted malts on the end. The finish has a touch of heat from the bumped alcohol, but otherwise it’s fairly smooth for those with a refined beer palate. Very complex, could have used a touch more on the hops to round things out and tip it from very good to grand.

750 corked and caged, pours into the glass looking more like a shiraz than a beer. Zero head, hardly any carbonation, deep purple/black that is mostly opaque. Not much in the look to let you’re know you’re drinking an abt, let alone a beer. Initial aroma, right after the bottle had been popped, was heavy fruit and very grapey almost like... a shiraz. But once the glass had a chance to breath you got the aroma’s you’d expect from this style beer, dark Belgian candy, sour yeastiness, touch of peanut, and plenty of alcohol apparent in the aroma. Flavor is quite sour from the yeast and the alcohol, toffee and dark fruits are also abundant, with flavor notes of white grape and honey as well. Heavy mouth feel with plenty of heat from the alcohol with the funky, medicinal lasting after taste you get from this kind of beer. Truthfully, it was a little much for me. I’d like to see this beer without the raisins, and maybe with some extra hops to give it a more rounded nose, flavor and finish.

Thanks to Suttree for sharing this at decaturstevo’s tasting. long lasting white head tops this hazy, medium amber brew. Big fruity malt and Belgian yeast aromas. Creamy body delivers some sweet malts and spices, Soft dryness builds at the finish. I really liked this one.

on tap-pours a disappearing off white head and cloudy brown color with red tint. Aroma if funky medium malt. Taste is funky medium malt, spices, dark fruit-raisin. Not my taste.

on tap-pours a retaining off white head that laces and amber color. Aroma is funky wheat/medium malt, spices-pepper. Taste is funky wheat/medium malt, spices-pepper, yeasty, musty, sweetness. Not my style.

Bottle. Mahogony beer with a light tan head. Big red wine aroma with some backing malt and spice. Red wine flavor with oak, malt, spice, and yeast. Medium body. Lingering red wine and yeast with a bit of other darker malt. Wine barrel notes competely dominate. Nice, but not what I expected.

Pours gold into a tulip. Fluffy white head slowly recedes leaving spot lacing to skim surface. Apricot and resin aromas. Upfront crisp caramel with a dry, sharp hop finish.
