Description
Lagabière was born in November 2012. Brothers Sébastien and Francis Laganière opened the doors of their brewery in the heart of Old St. Jean, in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. Initially offering only one of their beers and a few beers, the inventory has grown rapidly, offering only locally brewed products. With a capacity of 20 beers in service, the offer is very diversified. Each recipe is original and brewed with extreme rigor. Today, after more than sixty original recipes created, Lagabière also offers a range of imported beers, quality alcohols and a homemade food menu, incorporating as much beer as possible.

Canned Aug 25, 2020, drunk 11/5/21. Nothing like a 15 month old session IPA, I always say! Lightly hazy, swirling the can, straw-blonde with a small but well-retained, white head. Smells great. Mineral, cracker, lemon, tangerine pulp. Lemon-tangerine in the mouth with cracker and lingering floral notes. Great maltiness with perfect attenuation. Juicy, dry, malty, no resin, bubble gum or punchy hop. Very impressive stuff.

(On tap @ Foires Brassicoles, Quebec City, Oct 1/21) Pours black with a small latte-coloured head. Notes of distinct oreo cookie and baker's chocolate, moderately burnt malts with a little coffee and smoke bite, moderately sweet caramel, bourbon and vanilla much more present in the nose than on the tongue, balance is moderately sweet but drying in the finish with a hint of booze warmth and roast acidity, a little barrel wood in the finish but fairly soft in terms of BA overall. Medium-bodied, somewhat oily, with soft carbonation. Solid Oreo stout for sure, not the most intensely pastry and the BA is a little uneven but an enjoyable drink.
