Description
Lagabière was born in November 2012. Brothers Sébastien and Francis Laganière opened the doors of their brewery in the heart of Old St. Jean, in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. Initially offering only one of their beers and a few beers, the inventory has grown rapidly, offering only locally brewed products. With a capacity of 20 beers in service, the offer is very diversified. Each recipe is original and brewed with extreme rigor. Today, after more than sixty original recipes created, Lagabière also offers a range of imported beers, quality alcohols and a homemade food menu, incorporating as much beer as possible.

Found this older can, brewed a little over 2 years before. Pours a hazy golden colour with frothy-bubbly off-white head, decent stay and some foamy lacing streaks. Some lemon zesty aromas with a touch of funky farmhouse. The lemony notes continue in the flavours with some grassiness, the funk, orange juice and some nice dryness in the finish. Still quite drinkable after all these years. Interesting.

A well-laced low white head on a yellow straw body. The nose is fresh and punchy, featuring mango, orange and peach hops with pepper and sweet malt. A super blend of Mosaic and citra tastes here - grapefruit, orange, peach, mango and kiwi. Fresh squeezed and bright tastes. Sweet malt and pepper add to the mix. A leader in the North East style.

My reaction to this beer is simple - there are some nice hoppy fruit elements here, but it is so acidic it is hard to give it anywhere near a decent rating. Apparently I have to say more to get this review to take so here goes - well laced white head with a nice murky amber body. The nose has fresh GF, lemon and soft sweet malt.

On tap at L’Autre Oeil in Aylmer. A pillowy off-white head with sustained lacing. This BIPA hits some really great balances - a nice blend of earthy and citrus hops, roasted malt, coffee and touch of chocolate. A nice fruity hop finish, dense and slightly sticky mouth feel.

Dark brown with a beige head. Big coffee aroma. Bitter with lots of roast. Medium-bodied, mild carbonation. Tasty.

New brewery? sweet with citrus fruity notes of grapefruit and lemon, touch of pineapple and melon, sweet malty, a pretty thin body, pretty sweet overall, not really doing much for me this.

Tap at Hopa. Deep, hazy golden pour, white head. Nose is sweet notes of tropical fruits and tutti frutti. Taste is sweet upfront, fruity and a bit floral, then a touch of bitterness appears but afterwards it all takes an overwhelmingly sweet turn, showing candy-like, artificial-reminicent notes. Closes with long lasting sweet finish, has light to medium body and soft carbonation. Way too sweet altogether.
