Ruby pour, big frothy white head. Lovely sherry, sweet caramel, bready malty nose. Nice carbonation, solid mouthfeel. Semi bitter, dry finish. Subtle grassy hops, get lost in the really nice malts. A nice winter ale.

50cl bottle from the Co-Op, Bearsden. A chestnut brown pour with a fast fading white head; malty aroma with a touch of citrus; sweet malty taste with some lemon in the background; and a little spice in the finish with more earthy malts. A pleasant 80/-.

Cask conditioned at the Halfway House, Edinburgh. Deep golden colour, moderate creamy head. Moderate aroma, nothing really stands out. The flavour is quite well balanced between the malts and hops. Moderate fruity notes, hoppy / dusty finish. Okay.

500 ml bottle, bought at Vinens Verden, Odense, Denmark. Black (= very dark ruby) colour, good tan head. Pleasant aroma: chocolate, roasted barley, coffee, prunes, leather. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, faintly acidic. Mellow flavour of roasted barley / dark malts, low bitterness. Not too much going on flavourwise, does not quite live up to the expectations the aroma creates.
