Bottle - clear dark gold - fairly lovely, kicking up a significant lace - medium sweet, toasty malt in the nose, lightly grassy hops, light estery fruitiness - flavor is somewhat estery, medium sweet, moderate toastiness to the malt character - a bit of acidity late before a mild hop bitterness finishes - itβs okay.

On tap at The Beer Mongers, pours black with a medium brown head. Nose brings out a good mix of sourness and roasted malt. Flavour is very similar, starting with huge notes of roasted malt and accentuated perfectly with medium sourness. Hard to explain how cohesive and well-done this is. Not usually a fan of sour stouts, but they nailed this. Excellent.

28th May 2015: my second bottle of a random tasting session I am having with myself and no one else. Sat at my daughters place in Southern California where it is hot and sunny at the moment. A one pint and 0.9oz bottle into a Leffe badged chalice (three times). Slight haze to each light golden pour, on top a fast fading white covering. Hop lead to the nose and flavours, Grapefruit like taste, sharp and almost sour in the mouth: not too sure they bothered with any malts in this brew. As the beer warmed the grapefruit flavours turned more lemon like and more bitter. Decent enough and I liked the fact it was only 4.5% ABV, it did not need an alcohol boost to give it some individuality or credibility.

One of six beers on a flight at Bru Grill and Market, Lake Forest, Orange County on 21st May 2015. Impressive stuff, really enjoyed this. Amber pour with a minimal topping. Aroma and taste was a blend of sweet malty molasses (caramel and toffee notes) and floral hops (with a bitter edge). Interesting and different, the sort of beers I love to try. The alcohol is hidden well by the depth of flavours but you know it is there and it adds to the enjoyment and suits the brew nicely.

Bottle from Bottle Dog, Kings X, London. Poured a clear amber colour crowned with an off-white head. Nose had some grapefruit, earthy hop and melon but a bit muted. Flavour was similar with a little rye and a solid sweet malt spine. Hops somehow a little smothered. Bitternes ok, but not completely satisfying. Ok IPA if a tad disappointing.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours gold with a white head. Aroma is towards resin/dank. Med body or better. Flavor is dankish pine/resin over a decent malt backbone. Drinking this well towards room temp. Flavors are pretty strong. Finishes hoppy. Smooth and tasty. Looks like I donβt see this one like the other raters.
