Troeg’s, another well respected beer brewer from PA, but I must say from the other end of the state. Usually the highly respected Troeg’s brings a higher dollar along with it. Most troeg stuff is well rated so I am looking forward to tryin this brew. All the troegs I’ve tasted have been good except for the mad elf. So, I’m looking forward to this beer. Also, my brown ale experiences except the Saranac have been good and above average. 12 oz brown bottle, once popped has the aroma of a good flowery porter or stout, something like roasted malts or coffee, but sweeter. Pours darker than brown ale, also more like a stout or porter, I am a bit surprised. No bubbles rising from the brew that I can see. It is transparent even tho it is dark. Has a hint of spruceyness or pine in there with the roasty flavors. Carbonation is slightly below average but it is ever present. I can’t detect any chocolate in there, tho on the label it says there are hints of chocolate notes in there. Cannot detect any alcohol in the taste and this is probably due to the fact there is only 4.4%. Finish is not bitter per se but there is a linger that lasts for a few moments after you swallow. Not too bad and overall I would rate this beer above average as with most troeg beers.

2006 draft...copper with distinct red hues and bananas on the nose...no lasting foam...dried fruit on the palate with more nanas....texture is nice...a full flavored pint with a dry finish...diddn’t even know the percent was this high till after I drank it...impressive--------->bottle 2007 release, enjoyed in 2008...slightly cloudy reddish copper body beige small head...aroma is alcohol, bananas, some cherry, clove...more alcohol and more nanas....a thickness to the body...its sweet and the aromas show right through to the taste buds....honey shows up in the flavor more than the aroma....finish is slight alcohol and a salty quality aroma-7...appearance-3....flavor-7....palate-4....overall- 16....2009...the best release Ive tasted in a while :)

Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Clear dark amber, brief head. Aroma of fruit and candy sugar as well as red currant liqueur. Sweet with clean mouthfeel. Some caramel lies underneath the red currant, and there are loads of malt. The massive alcohol is hidden in sweet malt, yet it does not become sticky. Finishes almost without bitterness. A complex and nicely warming beer.

Very dark brown pour, with a creamy, lasting tan head - aroma of coffee and cream, hot cocoa, a bit of vanilla, and background plum hints - smooth mouthfeel, medium body - drier than most sweet stouts, with quite a potent espresso bitterness to it - cocoa and chocolate pudding come later, along with a hint of toffee - semi-dry, moderately bitter finish - quite nice.

Clear copper pour with a small ring of lace - belgian-like, slightly yeasty aroma, with cherry and honey (of course), with notes of caramel and light spices - a little thin-bodied for the ABV, but the alcohol is well-masked, making the beer delicate and light, but also dangerously easy to drink - honey, light safron and spices, and some subtle cinnamon, followed by a medium-strong cherry flavor - the finish is sllightly warming, with just a touch of cherry tartness - not bad, I’d just like more body.

12 oz bottle.."deepest caramel on the pour"-quotes the whore...you can see it...yeah its gonna be a creamy one....hops on the aroma(possibly dry hopped?)...ahhh creamy as anticipated...coats the mouth like a blanket created from pure stout...its almost hard to discern the flavor when so in awe by the palate...but I do get a clean nice chocolate malt resonance and a slightly dry finish...

Soft, muted copper-beige, medium clarity with a full beige head that fades steadily to cover, leaving light lacing.
Reserved nose shows dried apricots and lots of ’em. Just sort of a lightly tangy, mildly sweet sense, with some fleshy, slightly mineralic hints from the actual yeast. Light bananas, with a dusting of chocolate and very creamy, blanding wheat. Mild strength to the aroma, with no suggestion of alcohol. Typical clove/bubblegum, but less dominant here. Some sweet toffee and coffeecake-like malts are stretched VERY thin.
True to the aroma, the flavor is very mild. Almost no acidity throughout, with soft peachy/apricot notes, banana flavored wheatmeal and some chewy, light toffee sweetness upon warming. There is a touch of toasted malt astringency on the finish, but it is swallowed up on the very end, by the wheat blandness. Decidedly more amounts of fruitiness emerge with warming as well, complementing the toffee and turning it more dunkelweizen-like (it is just incredibly bland when too cold). Soft enough texture, with medium amounts of carbonation (slightly loose). Just not enough malt sweetness though, typical of many wheat beers. Should then think it quite drinkable (and it is to some extent), but the dryness, wateriness and extremely mild flavors prove difficult to remain interested in, even for someone who generally enjoys low gravity beers (though this is hardly low gravity).

Bottle courtesy of adrian910ss: Poured a medium amber color ale with a small foamy head with average retention and lacing. Aroma of light cherry with some subtle spices and sweet malt. Taste is semi-sweet with cherry and sweet malt. Body is a bit light but alcohol is very well hidden. I was probably expecting a bit much from this beer, which is far from being bad but just not as complex as I had hoped.

Bottle from cbkschubert; Nose of dark fruit, caramel, cloves, and cherries; Rusty red with a ring of pinkish-tinged beige bubbles; flavor of spices (cloves mainly), cherries, caramel, and a TINY bit of alcohol in the finish.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright caramel color with a very large yellow-tan head. The aroma was strong citrus and pine. The flavor was sweet and had strong grapefruity and piney elements and light nutty malts. Very nice.
