Description

Bottle from the Co-Op in Davis, CA. Pours light hazy gold with a foamy white head. I get just the faintest of skunk, but mostly light malt. Not sure about hop. Don’t think so. Lightly grainy. Light grassy bitter. It’s certainly not bad, but I think the process for low alcohol prevents flavor. On the other hand, since this is a pale lager, that might be for the best. I’m just having a problem figuring out why this was supposed to be a good idea. And minutes into it, I’m still thinking a very light touch of burnt rubber/skunk. Seems unlikely with a dark brown bottle though. The level of bitter is the saving grace.

Bottle, slightly aged sample. Nice roasted caramel aroma, light herbal bitterness. Hazy red chestnut, stable brown cream. Light berry fruitiness on the roasted bread and chocolate. Sparkly mouthfeel, chewy, allthough probably a bit drier than usual at this age. Still deliciously drinkable Dunkel.

Bottle (Danke, Jonas!): Golden, lazy carbonation, big firm creamy white head with a good lacework; grainy-sweet nose with a light bisquity touch, hoppy traces in the background; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, slightly lingering, drier bitter-sweet finish. Solid, but unspectacular Märzen......

Bottle. Golden, white head, low carbonation. Herbal, light citric and hayish malt aroma. Good chewy malt base, much fuller than the ’Gold’ abominations you get from other breweries. Grassy, light citric hops, fresh and light on the palate, immensely drinkable and satisfying.

Moderately bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a crisp carbonation. Soft pale malty base with profound German hops from the beginning; quite dry, mildly sweet and hop bitter finish with herbal and resiny accents. A quaffable Pilsener. 01.XII.10

Bottle (from Jonas!): Pale greenish golden, a bit unclear, quite stable mid-sized bleached head; moderate to solid aromatic herbal-hoppy nose, backed by a good dash of sweet pale malt; moderate to solid bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied; pronounced aromatic hoppiness in the lingering bitter-sweet finish. Gorgeous Pils, lightyears away from the usual german Veltins, Bitburger and Radeberger swill..... Totally underrated!!! Simply the best german Pils, using a nearly perfect mix of excellent noble hops. Even better than Augustiner or Fiege. I like it to soup it up with the also gorgeous Fiege PILSBOCK...
