Description

(bottle, 33cl) Clear, pale golden colour with a short foamy white head. Sweet and slightly strawy malty aroma with notes of biscuits, shades of honey and a tinge of floral hops. Sweet flavour, full bodied with a soft carbonation. Pale malty, slightly honey-ish taste with light herbal, subtle fruity and flowery hoppy notes; sweet malt-accented biscuity finish with a delicately floral and herbal hoppy counterpart. A very nice and smooth one, although I expected more Saphir-character. 10.V.10

Bottle: Pale greenish-golden, small to medium-sized loose white head; honeyish-bisquity nose with a distinctive, but light hoppy background; medium bodied, moderate sweet-bitter flavour; aromatic dry hop aromas showing up in the slightly lingering sweet-bitter finish. A good brew....

Bottle from Ledger’s Liquor. Pours gold with a foamy 4 finger white head. Rather thick pale malt aroma. Maybe noble hop. Medium body with near creamy carbonation. Flavor is liquid sweetness - but it isn’t sicky/sticky. It flows, and it seems fairly balanced with smooth grassiness. It’s a very tasty beer in a somewhat light way. Drinks very readily. Don’t pass this one up.

Nice super hazy golden/orange coloured body with a dense slightly off-white head that lasts quite a long time - this is exactly what a german hef should look like! Aroma of nice wheat, coriander seed, curacao, sour grapes, yeast and a tiny bit of spice. Light-bodied; Malty flavour, but not that of wheat, lemony twang and a very watery feeling. Aftertaste shows more wheat than the taste, a bit of sweetness and an overly drying and watery flavour. Overall, a good looking and smelling beer, but it loses most of it’s quality in the taste and palate - there simply isn’t enough of it to go around! I sampled this 500 cL bottle purchased from Lee’s Discount Liquors in Las Vegas, Nevada on 07-February-2009, sampled a week+ later on 16-February-2009 at home in Washington.
