Description

Pleasant banana cake notes, dry, fresh citric, very well balanced. I like it better than last time. 6 4 7 3 12 Bottle, Schönramer Weissbier. Citric aroma, a bit spice. Cloudy orange, off-white lacing foam, fine carbonation. Mellow mouthfeel, a bit foamy, chewy nevertheless. Light fruit base, berries, a hint woodyness. Clementines retronassal.

Bottle. Golden, fine carbonation, white head. Gracker malt, aromatic hop aroma. Chewy malt body, flowery and grassy hop profile - elegantly balanced. Quite wellcrafted.

Sampled draught as "Dunkles Zwickl" Well-carbonated, clear chestnut-coloured beer with very good yellow-beige head and nice lace. Oilpaint, yeasty notes, bread and autumn leaves. Chocolate, dry (black), non-salted Pretzels, dark bread. Medium bodied, bit slick, very little actual yeast in the mouth. Quite palatable; less yeast-intoned than "Zwickl" would implement usually.

Orange, hazed with a good head, fast gone to some small lacy ring. Banana, clove - and (sorry!) washing powder, citrus in the finish. Sweet with a light fruity sourness - more banana and citrus even more, estery. Sweetness remains restrained. MF is very wheat-slick, even a bit creamy. Quite decent Hefe.

Very thick, snowwhite head over clear-golden beer. Yeast, CO² and fresh malts in the nose. Dry, grainy flavour, strawlike, and also liqueurish, but without syrupiness. Quite dry MF, going to a near-empty feel. Obviously the maltbomb @ Schönram. Interestingly, this was presented as the Festbier.

Sample a bit aged Very dense, just off-white head over clear golden beer, exhibiting good lace. Thick, lightly oxydized pale malts, sweet eggbread. Sweet, malty, with bitterness retronasal; bit of sweetcorn, lightly spicy. Medium bodied, very slick, alcoholwarming. Pity about the aging, still nice, just-sweet Bock. Probably the first Saphir-hopped beer I liked.

Draught Good dense, lightly yellow head; well-carbonated golden beer. Again Ge noble hops, if maybe a bit less prominent than in the Helles. Very dry, with a very delicate balance hops - pale malts. Bit aggressive carbonation, light to medium bodied, slick, with a very dry finish. Good Pilsener, which could held its own with any of the Nortern German classics.

Draught Towering white to light-yellow head over clear golden beer. Fresh German hops, pretty imposing for a Helles, grassy. Dry - "Herbes" beer, with a bucketload of hops - very grassy ones, and a faint grainflavour. Light body, refreshing, but bit broken-off aftertaste. Excellent in its style, usually not famous for its grandeur.

Bottled 500ml. -bought at Orterer Getränkemärkte Altötting, Germany, as Schönramer Weissbier.
Slight hazy golden coloured, medium sized white head, lively carbonation, wheaty fruity nose. The taste is basicly the same; wheaty, fruity and quite sweet. Sweet almost sticky finish. One-dimensional and not so good weizen.

Bottled 500ml. -bought at Orterer Getränkemärkte Altötting, Germany.
Pale yellow coloured, medium sized white head, dusty almost neutral nose. Weak malty, straw and some light lemony hops with short bitterish finish. Weak and boring.
