Gents bierfestival Nr 5 Pours unclear , yellow , good white head. Smell is sweet, grainy , sugar . Taste is bitter, bit honey . Sweet, grainy . some hops . OK , not to special though

Sampled @ Gents Bierfestival 2014. 330 ml. bottle. Average creamy white head, Very cloudy yellow, taste & smell is totally dominated by yeast, chunk of yeast with touch esters, dough, wheat & lots of white sugar, faint coriander. Thick yeasty body. I do not believe that beers should taste like a glass of yeast with sugar.

Small white rim left, unclear straw-yellow beer. Sweet-sourish nose, rhubarb with sugar. Sweetish-sourish taste, with flavours of pineapple, and a bit of coriander, wheat. Light body, medium carbonation. Oh well, not really bad.

Bottle shared. Pours very hazy dark golden with a bubbly off white head. Aroma of Brett, citrus, fruits and malt (infection? But not really in a bad way). Flavour is over moderate sweet and light moderate bitter and acidic. Medium bodied with light carbonation.

Bottle shared. Pours cloudy golden with a big off white head. Aroma of citrus, fruity hops, yeast and caramel. Flavour is over moderate sweet and light moderate bitter. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Tasted as an old beer under its former name Baudeloo Clooster Tripel, for a convent in the village of Klein-Sinaai in northeastern Flanders. Yellowish white, irregular foam, at first quickly building but then dropping down equally fast only to disappear entirely in the end. Colour a yellowish peach blonde, cloudy. Very yeasty aroma, peach, apple, lots of fresh orange, old bread, rhum, honey, vinegar, floral hops, also quite phenolic (nail polish remover). Taste begins fruity sweet with lots of orange, honeyish malt base, smooth and light, becoming lemony sourish (probably a mild infection), finishing in a relatively long hop bitterness, though the fruity sweetness from the onset also sticks.

Licht troebel bier zonder schuim. Smaak is bitter, licht zuur, citroen. Blijft lang hangen. Uitstekend bier met bijzondere goede smaak.

Recent beer from Boelens brewery in the Waasland region in the northeast of Flanders, with off-white, thick, mushy foam, caught in the glass after spectacular gushing; colour a misty peach blonde with vivid sparkling. Very nutty aroma with dried fruits, grapefruit, gooseberry, bourbon, jute, sour cream, green apples, leather, sweat... Taste kicks off with a sharp citrussy acidity as well as a lactic acidity probably from the infection which caused the gushing; further apply, nutty malts, but the sourness accompanies the whole palate resulting in a somewhat astringent mouthfeel, some flowery hops in the aroma but no real bitterness. Flawed and lightly infected - as I’ve experienced with most Boelens brews - and out of balance, did not enjoy this.
