On tap at East Van, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma reveals lightly roasted malt, a touch of earth and light coffee grounds. Flavour is very mild, with earthy notes, toasted malt and a touch of faded coffee. Clean enough, but lacking any oomph or character. The epitome of a “meh” beer.

On tap at East Van, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma is quite robust, with a nice roasted malt backbone, accentuated by some piney hops on top. Flavour is dry, with earthy notes, toasted malt and bittering hoppiness. Soft on the palate, but without much character. Solid.

On tap at East Van, pours a hazy dark copper amber with a small beige head. Aroma is fairly laid back, with some toasted caramel and bready malt. Flavour is very bready, with a strange caramel character that tastes rather artificial. This is way off the mark. Not good.

Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 5 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6

On tap at East Van, pours a cloudy orange with a medium beige head. Aroma of subdued resinous hops and sweet bready caramel malt. Flavour is balanced between the resinous hops and caramel malt. Nothing overly spectacular about the hop character, but at least this is balanced and clean.

Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 4 | Overall - 6

On tap at East Van, pours a hazy amber with a medium beige head. Aroma is robust for a pale, with floral hops and crisp bready malt. Flavour is dry and punchy, with bitter floral hops and a dry biscuity malt base. More bitterness than actual hop flavour. Okay.

5.2
Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 5 | Texture - 4 | Overall - 5

On tap at East Van, pours a cloudy yellowish blonde with a small white head. Aroma reveals light floral hops, such esters and subdued saison yeast. Flavour is very confused, with earthy floral notes and muffled yeast. At least there are no esters. Uncoordinated and not too pleasant.
