Bouteille 750cl courtesy of Tderoeck @ Sebletitje’s Farewell Tasting.

Thank you tderoeck. Bomber sampled @ Sebletitje’s Farewell Tasting. Black with little tanned bubbles. Nose is red grapes, sugar, very sweet grainy malts, honey, cloying. Taste is thick red grape, sugar, malt, extremely sweet cloying going to herbal cough sryupd, cough syrup. Body is thick sugar, malty with grape. Good but too sweet for its own good.

Sampled from bottle @ Sebletitje’s Farewell Tasting. Opaque black color, average sized off-white to beige head. Smell and taste malts, some roast, heavy alcohol, dark overripe fruits, bitter. Nice.

440ml can. Pours a delicate pinky orange without head and visibly fizzy. Aroma is restrained grape, flowers and a big smack of bread. Flavour is much more delicate. Red grape, cherry, plum notes to start, leading into a flowery middle and some spice and yeast to finish. Really very nice and quite different. Certainly not what you’d expect from the can design.

Probably not as OTT as I’d expect from Pinhead. All up, it’s an easy drinking, reasonably unremarkable stout. It has a nice range of aromas including chocolate, coffee, caramel, lemon and cherry. The chocolate, coffee and lemon are prominent on tasting, but the palate is a little thin though the length is good.

Craft 100. Clapham. Keg. Lightly hazy gold beer, small white head. Palate is light, dry and minerally crisp. Thin malts bring an unusual (for the colour of the beer) burned caramel. Mango hop with lesser orange peel. Smooth finish brings a broader tropical fruit vibe. Different!

500ml bottle. Pours gold with a small white head. Aroma is glorious sweet floral mango and papaya with a touch of floral pine. Flavour is surprisingly sharp, with a little tartness coming through with the tropical fruit, giving a passionfruit type flavour. Also some grassy sweetness in the finish. This is big flavour and just lets those NZ hops sing. Really quite delicious.
