330ml bottle. Cloudy, yeloow-ish, deep golden colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Citrusy and grassy, hoppy aroma, a dusty, yeasty touch of pollen, pale malty background with a honey touch. Taste is slightly sweet pale and caramel malty, grassy and fruity hoppy overtones, notes of gooseberry and the like, a touch of lemon, a dusty, yeasty touch.

Grainy and slightly sourish beginning. The beer is fresh, round and smooth. Not too much sourness, I dislike the grainy aroma a bit. The aftertaste is not too deep, sourish with horse-blanket hints, refreshing and mild.

Smooth and fresh beginning. Easy to drink with great woody cherries. Hints of sourish chocolate, the fruity raspberries are in the mainpart over the cherries. Great melange. Smooth and woody sourish fruity aftertaste! Nice stuff!!

Older bottle generously donated by the proprietor of Het Haasken, a beer pub in Diest, in October last year; this proprietor knows the BIIR brewer personally, apparently, hence the donation, thanks man! Thickly ’papery’ lacing, moussy, stable, beaten egg-coloured head over a clear orange blonde beer with tiny bits of dead yeast and protein flakes floating around throughout; turns misty and more deeply ’golden orange’ with deposit. Rustic aroma of green banana, fried egg (the proteins!), jute, straw, orange peel, apricot, cava, freshly cut potato, white pepper, dusty cellar and dry haystack, celery, baker’s yeast and even bread dough, chamomille and other field flowers, dried grass, wry grape peel, raw rhubarb (acetaldehyde), some more subtle impressions of raw carrot, dried mango, wet paper. Crisp, mildly estery onset combining very restrained green banana, unripe peach and green plum sweetishness with gooseberry sourishness, sparkling carbo but not overcarbonated (and by no means champagne-like), slick and supple malt body, elementary pale malt sweetishness with a caramelly and eventually very softly bittering toasted edge, some clove-like phenols retronasally along with floral and leafy hops, leaving a drying, thoroughly but not harshly bittering, earthy, lightly spicy and even somewhat tonic-water like finish, enough to counterbalance the basic, subdued sweetishness of the onset; yeasty earthiness remains a long lasting impression, including some yeast bitterness, but the hops are, in all, well dosed here. Pleasant beer, with the ’crispness’, quenching and drying effects and frothy head stability one can expect from a saison; contrary to some of these new Belgian saisons, this one hits the right spot to qualify as such. Perhaps a tad too old already, but perfectly satisfying, bittering and to the point, though the champagne yeast factor completely escapes me, apart from a few - thinly - vinous hints in the nose. Could have been just as good without it I think but whatever: nice find, cheers to Haasken!

Muffiger, wenig fruchtiger Geruch. Fruchtiger, nur wenig süßer Antrunk. Durch die hohe Fruchtgabe ist die Säure vollständig verschwunden, vollmundig, etwas zuckrig wirkend. Langer fruchtiger Nachhall, keine Säure. 11/10/11/11/11/11
