Amber color, clean, with creamy head. Light fruity hops aroma, possibly a note of diacetyl. Smooth mouthfeel (this seems a trademark for the brewery), nice malt and caramel flavor, moderately sweet; the hopping provides some quality, but the strong bitterness has a chicory shade in the final.

Dark brown color, almost black, with creamy head. Light banana and dark caramel aroma. The mouthfeel is soft, round, moderately sweet; some dark caramel flavor, light spices.
Tastes like midway between a Dunkelweizen and a Dunkler Bock, it lacks a bit of character but it’s OK.

Draft -Buttery and caramel with some light earthy hops. Clear copper with a nice beige head. Sweet orange, light tropical notes, buttery caramel and a decent finish. Very English, but a very minimal hop presence.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours a deep dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is very Englishy, with English malt, metallic notes and light toasted nuts. Flavour is better, with dry toffee, English malts, toasted nuts, and light metallic notes. Better flavour than on the nose. Decent, but a bit too metallic.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a deep dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma smells like chemical notes and English bready malts. Flavour is similar, with bready malt, light English hops, and buttery off-notes. Not horribly off, but there are definitely some off-notes here. Problematic.

On tap at St Augustine's, pours a dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted nuts, bready notes and light toasted caramel. Flavour is too sweet for the style, with toaster caramel, bready notes and residual sweetness. Not complex at all and way too sweet. Not too impressive.

On tap at St Augustine's, pours a clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out Belgian yeast, light candied sugar, and light floral fruitiness. Flavour is not authentic in any way, but still pleasant nonetheless - not too sugary to the point of cloying, with Belgian yeast, floral nights and very light fruitiness. There is certainly too much sweetness in there for a tripel, but that's typical of many (most?) North American attempts of the style. Not usually my type of tripel, but still pleasant.

Flavour is nastily sweet, with diacetyl, English hops and medicinal sweetness. Something really wrong here. Sweet and too many off-notes. Not good.
