Description
Alpha State is a brewery in rural Kent, producing modern beers.

Founded in 2012 by brewer Jonathan Queally. Alpha State quickly grew a reputation for creating world class beers, and have been in great demand ever since.

This new online store is to showcase the work and beers of good friend Bob Mortimer, whose extensive and continued work brewing beers with us has produced some incredible products. These exclusive one off beers are limited and are only available on this store.

Key keg at the Pig's ear beer festival 05/12/2017. A hazed yellow golden coloured pour with a fine white head. Aroma is doughy wheat grains, orange rind, pithy lemon, tangy. Flavour is composed of pez sweet, orange rind, midget gems, doughy wheat. Palate is pithy, zesty, mellow carboantion. Not bad.

Keg at MK VHX, 12/12/18. Very light haze on a golden orange pour with a decent off white head. Nose is a mix of barnyard esters, citric pith, orange zest, grapefruit, damp straw. Taste comprises lemon tinged straw, dusty citric peel, light brett, orange pith, basement tones, grass, yeast esters. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close peppered with dusty hop bitterness. Interesting number ... crosses over with IPA and sour / saison quite well. Decent.

Growler from Noble Hops, shared at BD Aberdeen. It pours darkest brown with a beige head. The aroma is rich, roasted malt, slick, oily, permanent marker pen, liquorice, cacao, rum and plum. The taste is dry, slick, bitter, charred wood, spice, dark fruits, oily, tannin, leather, dark fruits, raisin, sultana, fruit cake, bit of jam and tannin with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A bit too much permanent marker, but fun anyhow.

Tap. Bundobust, Leeds. Pitch black. Ring of dense, tan foam. Nose has dark rum. Molasses. Chocolate ice cream. Chocolate gateau. Some old wood. Big on the booze steeped vine fruit. Taste is sweet and lightly tart, with a soft, woody bitterness. Medium body. Smooth and slick. Low carbonation. Drinks super easy. Tart, vinous, rum soaked finish. Great stuff.

Keg at the Eebria tap room. A clear orange coloured pour with a sticky white head. Aroma is citrus orange, grapefruit, plastic, pale grains. Flavour is composed of bitter woody citrus, grapefruit flesh, orange rind spicy orange oil. Palate is woody tannin. Some solvent alcohol, Lingering assertive grapefruit bitterness.

On tap at Fuggles Beer Cafe Tonbridge. 5.6% Swedish. Hazy amber pale brown colour. lasting beige head. perfume aroma intense elderflower. settles down but it's elderflower heavy. wow. doesn't hold back. pale ale underneath is fine with a little biscuit then elderflower dances all over it. entertaining. light and fun. put a smile on my face.

Keg at MK BG, 27/09/18. Almost clear golden orange with an off white cap that dissipates to a swirl. Nose is floral, citric tinged straw, light herb, faint mint, touch of elderflower, grass. Taste comprises orange peel, light herb, moderate elderflower, toasted grains, straw, bitter sweet edge, airy malts. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok pale ... would have liked more elderflower.

Keg at Casc. It pours lightly hazy blonde with minimal head. The aroma is fresh, fragrant, grassy, hay, lemongrass, zingy, biscuit and lime. The taste is crisp, dry, bitter, pithy, zesty, floral, lemongrass, lime, peppery spice, grassy, leather and pepper with dry finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Drinks well for the style. Punchy and dangerous.
