Description
Gregory Hall founded Virtue Cider in 2011. He is known for his 20-year tenure as brewmaster at the Goose Island Beer Company, having won 14 consecutive Great American Beer Festival medals and pioneered bourbon barrel-aged beer with Bourbon County Stout. In the spring of 2011, Hall left Goose Island and embarked on a two-month pilgrimage to study the craft of cider, touring and tasting at top cidermakers in England and France. He brought his extensive experience and innovative style to launch Virtue Cider. In 2013, Hall brought the cidermaking venture as close as possible to one of the United States' best apple-growing states of Michigan and launched Virtue Cider in Fennville, Michigan.

From 2015 to 2023 Virtue was owned by ABInBev. Greg Hall bought the Cidery back in 2023.

Bottle from Livonia Liquor. Pours a ruby plum color with a small bit of pinkish foam that dissipates. This bottle is probably around 3 years old at this point. Lovely aromas of apple and blueberry skin and fruit. Yeast is present with blueberry skin really coming out on the palate. Sweet, but not overly so. Balanced between apple and blueberry. Carbonation is mostly gone, but still a very enjoyable cider.

Draft at Goose Island's Barrel Warehouse for the BCS Media Preview. Light-looking pour, with some fizz to it from the tap. Smell offers the usual cider, and a bit of oak and vanilla. Same goes for the taste. Very smooth, even a bit buttery. This may or may not have been the version aged in Bourbon County Stout barrels. but I'm going with the more common iteration. Sweet, woody, and easy going.
