Description
Gregory Hall founded Virtue Cider in 2011. He is known for his 20-year tenure as brewmaster at the Goose Island Beer Company, having won 14 consecutive Great American Beer Festival medals and pioneered bourbon barrel-aged beer with Bourbon County Stout. In the spring of 2011, Hall left Goose Island and embarked on a two-month pilgrimage to study the craft of cider, touring and tasting at top cidermakers in England and France. He brought his extensive experience and innovative style to launch Virtue Cider. In 2013, Hall brought the cidermaking venture as close as possible to one of the United States' best apple-growing states of Michigan and launched Virtue Cider in Fennville, Michigan.

From 2015 to 2023 Virtue was owned by ABInBev. Greg Hall bought the Cidery back in 2023.

Bottle. Pours a clear copper with a purple hue and a light pink head that dissipates quickly and completely. Aroma has earthy blueberry and tart apple with a hint of oaky bourbon underlying. Flavor is blueberry forward with a bit of tart apple and oaky bourbon in the finish.

Bottle sent by Virtue for my comment. The addition of peach only makes it slightly darker than an apple cider. Nice peach Gummi candy smell. Taste has peach up front, and a combination of apple sweetness and peach tart. Like a lot of fizzy ciders, it's very easy to drink quickly. Takes a lot more will power to be able to linger over a sweet cider, And I don't have that kind of will power. Finished just like that.

Bottles sent by Virtue for comment. Straight apple and blueberry nose right under the cap. Pours a purple color, with some fizz that doesn't keep up a head. I gotta say I like this. Tastes like apple and blueberry, without extra sweetness, no impression of sulfites. Flavor is straightforward, and the fizz is just right. Mouthfeel is slightly thicker than English mega-ciders.

Sent by Virtue for comment. A noticeably amber pour, deeper than the average bottled cider, even with a rosy blush, and a fizzy head. Dry apple scent, not very sweet. First taste impression is of a thick apple juice mouthfeel, yet it's a little dry. Cherry flavor comes in after the first sips. Cherry flavor never gets as tart as the source. No added sugar or juice to thin or sweeten it. Comes across like an aperitif more than farmented juice.
