Description
Gregory Hall founded Virtue Cider in 2011. He is known for his 20-year tenure as brewmaster at the Goose Island Beer Company, having won 14 consecutive Great American Beer Festival medals and pioneered bourbon barrel-aged beer with Bourbon County Stout. In the spring of 2011, Hall left Goose Island and embarked on a two-month pilgrimage to study the craft of cider, touring and tasting at top cidermakers in England and France. He brought his extensive experience and innovative style to launch Virtue Cider. In 2013, Hall brought the cidermaking venture as close as possible to one of the United States' best apple-growing states of Michigan and launched Virtue Cider in Fennville, Michigan.

From 2015 to 2023 Virtue was owned by ABInBev. Greg Hall bought the Cidery back in 2023.

Can at Ohare. Nose is apples, minerals, lightest honey, some skin. Deep gold. Dry, spirtzy, not so interesting. Light apple, something like beer or champagne yeast. Fake carbonation. No barrel character.

Tasted at a Goose island brewery office bottle share. I needed a sweet cider to rinse out a particularly smoky beer before this. This is a clean, yellow cider color. Apples in the nose. The taste starts with a bit of sugar, but then becomes quite dry. Despite the dry finish, it still has a bit of sweetness in its apple flavor.

750mL bottle, pours a clear dull blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out light sweetness, some champagne effervescence and bone dry apples. Flavour is bone dry, with light champagne, bone dry apples, and light wild yeast. Not the most complex brut, but it's very pleasant.

Sampled from the tap at GTMW 2017. Pours a crystal clear yellow gold with a bubbly white head that starts and remains at the edges. Aroma has a good amount of dry apple with a bit of a sweet bourbon note baking. Flavor has dry apple throughout with a bit of a BCS bourbon and a bit of sweetness.

Bottle from AJ's. green apples, sharp nose, touch od toffee and cheese. Pale gold with bubbles. Sweet / sharp flavor quite a bit of tannin for an American cider too. Minerals, green apple, prickly tannic finish. Good traditional cider.

Draft. A yellow cider. The aroma has notes of apples. The flavor is a bit acidic with notes of apples, and a bit of lemon, leading to a dry finish.
