Description
It was a hot summer day and we were kicking back on a dock near Bobcaygeon. We were deep in a craft beer discussion when it dawned on us – why not start our own brewery? Sure it would take a ton of a hard work with long hours, recipe creation, branding and financing, but it’s doable, right?

In August 2017, we laid eyes on the old post office at 17 Bolton Street in Bobcaygeon, Ontario – what a fine brewery it would make. We submitted a proposal to flip the building into a brewery and were lucky enough to get the green light.

Now we’re on track to bring Bobcaygeon to Bobcaygeon. We’re working hard at renovating the building, and when we’re done we’ll have a full production facility, retail store and tap room offering our core line up of delicious beer along with a variety of seasonals and one-offs. To say we’re excited is an understatement. Our dream of making great craft beer to be enjoyed among friends is coming true.

In the meantime, we’ve opened our Innovation Lab in Peterborough at 649 The Parkway, Unit 4. The focus here will be on unique offerings, with plenty of one offs and different beers to try. Brewing will happen on site, or you can try the beers in our tasting room and purchase beer to go in our Gift Shop. Visit us today!

Pours a real dark brown colour from the can with hardly any highlights. Mocha-coloured head, fizzy, bubbly, but decent lasting with some foamy patches. Chocolate malt aromas with some cocoa notes and roasted malts. Tasted malt taste with a very light sweetness and light hops in the finish. Not much lingers, kind of wet mouthfeel. Thicker though, but not syrupy. Alright overall, but wish it had more cocoa nibs and lactose. More flavours.

Pours a hazy golden colour with a nice white frothy cap, good stay and some nice thick creamy lacing. Very light grain smell. There seems to be a mild infected sourness at first, but this disappears quickly, leaving some light grain on the tongue. Even some hints of fruitiness (apples, citrus, melons). Actually pretty refreshing and easy to drink. Nothing too special, but a nice light golden ale.

Can from the LCBO. Clear very dark copper with a large lingering off white head. Nose is caramel, light roasted nuts, some red fruit, light pine and grass with some herbal notes. Light+ sweet caramel malts with a well balanced grassy bitterness. Mouth is medium and slick with good carbonation and a lingering lightly bitter finish. Quite nice. 7/4/7/3+/14+

This APA poured a cloudy, medium yellow colour with a big, white, foamy head. Minimal lacing. Scents include citrus hops, cream and malt. First swig was smooth with med/low carbonation. Slightly sharp on the palate at first with hop flavour but eases out. Flavours of honey, hops and very light cereal. Finish is bitter with hops lingering. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

1 Pint can from a LCBO in Ottawa. Clear golden with a big white head. Low fruity on the nose. Taste is malty, hop present in the second row, more than expected with the labeled 38 IBU but less fruity than expected. Long lasting bitterness in the aftertaste. Medicore.

Deep amber colour with light mocha-coloured head and lots of lacing. Aromas of caramel malts, some roasted ones and hints of coffee. The taste has a balance of caramel and roasted malts, but watered-down and with some nice hops in the finish adding some dryness. A nice balanced roasted-caramel malty red ale.

Deep dark brown porter with a thin mocha head. In aroma, herbaceous chocolate malt with light grassy hops, light mineral notes, light coffee grind, light vegetable notes, so-so. In mouth, a sweet chocolate malt with light grassy hops, light mineral notes, light coffee grind, light vanilla, pleasant. On tap at Ottawa winter brewfest 2017.

Pours a slight unfiltered golden colour with a very light amber hue. The head is frothy, warm, long lasting with some soapy lacing. Mostly cereal grain smell with some decent hops in the background. Hints of honey. The taste is a little more on the hoppy side, as a pale ale should be. The malt blends things out with some citrus notes. Quite a well-brewed APA.

Can from the Beer Store. Clear pale gold with a tiny white head that fades slowly to a sheet. Nose is light toffee with some tropical fruit and grass. Flavour is light sweet toffee with a medium- grassy bitterness. Mouth is medium- and slick with soft carbonation and a lingering light bitter finish. Would improve with better carbonation. 6/3/7/3-/13
