Description
It was a hot summer day and we were kicking back on a dock near Bobcaygeon. We were deep in a craft beer discussion when it dawned on us – why not start our own brewery? Sure it would take a ton of a hard work with long hours, recipe creation, branding and financing, but it’s doable, right?

In August 2017, we laid eyes on the old post office at 17 Bolton Street in Bobcaygeon, Ontario – what a fine brewery it would make. We submitted a proposal to flip the building into a brewery and were lucky enough to get the green light.

Now we’re on track to bring Bobcaygeon to Bobcaygeon. We’re working hard at renovating the building, and when we’re done we’ll have a full production facility, retail store and tap room offering our core line up of delicious beer along with a variety of seasonals and one-offs. To say we’re excited is an understatement. Our dream of making great craft beer to be enjoyed among friends is coming true.

In the meantime, we’ve opened our Innovation Lab in Peterborough at 649 The Parkway, Unit 4. The focus here will be on unique offerings, with plenty of one offs and different beers to try. Brewing will happen on site, or you can try the beers in our tasting room and purchase beer to go in our Gift Shop. Visit us today!

Can from the lcbo. Jet black, medium brown head. Aroma is very roasty with sticky, unctuous, cocoa notes. Light brown sugar, and some hints of dark fruit. Silky mouth feel, slightly oily, soft carb. Low bitterness, was expecting it to be quite sweet, but it wasn't. Reminded me of a basic stout with lots of cocoa notes, hints of coffee and solid roast.

Can from the lickbow.
Hazy yellow pour, small white head. Aroma is wet paper, pale malts, hints of grass, and the slightest, faintest citrus Aroma. Mouth feel and carb are fine. Finish is light to medium bitter, hints if citrus and wet paper. This is so oooooooooooooooo boring. Introductory beer I suppose.

Clean, golden with a small white cap, not lasting long, nor leaving any lacing. Carbonation seems minimal. The nose does offer lots of grassiness for a lager, over the straw malt base. The malt is what shows in the taste, as a lager should. Cereal notes, with just enough hops to cut the thickness, sweetness and give it a nice crisp, drying finish. Eventually, some light particles do end up in the brew, and some lacing does appear to stick to the glass. Some medicinal-grassiness lingers on the tongue. Not a bad micro-lager for summer, cottage time.

Can: Poured a reddish color ale with a medium white foamy head with OK retention and light lacing. Aroma of tart notes with some cherry notes is easily noticeable. Taste is also a mix of tart notes with some cherry notes and light acidic notes. Body is about average with medium carbonation. Enjoyable cherry sour but lacking complexity.

Can: Poured a black color ale with a large brown foamy head with some retention and light lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with some black chocolate notes with light peppery rye notes and some dry hoppy notes. Taste is also a mix of bitter roasted malt with some black chocolate notes, light rye peppery notes with some dry hoppy notes. Body is slightly below average with good carbonation. Interesting but too much chocolate malt for style..
