Bottle (2012). Pours with a clear pale hued body with a white head that fizzes away. Aromas are of oak, funk, diaper, medium-low sulfur, tannins, strong oak lactones and light fruit. Vanillin. Flavors are medium dry with moderate acidity and fruit tannin, but a pretty strong oak contribution that works well with a mild and rustic brett character. Lightly vinous, with moderate carbonation (could be higher). Not bad.

Bottle. Poured vigorously yields some white fizz over a mostly clear pale hued body (much more clear than most Spanish ciders that I have had). Aromas are fruity and lactic with light notes of white wine vinegar. Quite floral, dried fruit and tea like ester notes. Delicate, white wine. Flavors are tart, with a slightly young brett character (cheerios). Acid character is moderately acetic, but not horribly so. No nail polish or or any other ester-ized acetic qualities. Mild barrel character. Overall enjoyable, but not quite what I would expect. Definitely a lot less chlorophenolic notes (plastic, bandaid and burnt rubber) than some authentic Spanish Sidras. Medium carbonation with a dry finish. Not bad.

2013 Vintage bottle filled to the brim. Expensive for a young cider at $21 for a 750ml. Pours with a lightly hazy, pale golden hue with a fizzy white head that dies quickly. Aromas are slightly sulfuric with moderate funk notes, brett, barnyard a low chlorophenolics. Lemony acidity, manure and fresh cut grass. Despite some of those descriptors the overall impression is of a nice cider. Flavors are dry, bright, medium low acid with very low tannin for what I was expecting. Lots of strong apple character. Full carbonation, mild sulfur notes. Dry finish. Pretty good, but not too complex.

$10 Bottle from NBD. I hope their future releases are just as reasonable, because $20+ sidra clones just don’t cut it.
Sizzling tulip pour. Clear, vibrant, pale gold. Active.
Smells of pears, plastic, floral perfume, & alcohol. Just a touch of footy/sweaty funk that fades with time.
Acidy, floral, & incredibly dry. Flinty. Bitter core. Almost medicinal. Faintly yeasty. Residual mintyness.
Dry mouth & aggressive alcohol. Minerally. Thin. Bubbly.
Not my favorite type of stuff, but I appreciate the effort. Apples tasted a bit empty here. I still would rather drink real sparking.

Clear, wheat body. Touch of fading white wash head.
Smell is pretty interesting. Very quiet, early brett, a touch soapy, & some very juicy, perfumey, very pear-like sweet apple notes. Faint gummy/plastic that doesn’t bother me much.
Taste is a combo of sweet & tangy sour. Very mellow & not extreme in any one direction. Low acid, at least to me. Hints of juicy, unfermented apple flavor. The bottles(& the accompanying brett) are still pretty new the rep told me. The end dries out with lots of tasty skin, but still leaves more sweetness then I would expect. I don’t get that bold mineral quality I usually associate with Norman ciders.
Just as Virtue’s sidra doesn’t exactly resemble a Spanish sidra, this doesn’t quite make me think Normandy cider. Not much of a knock at all, as it’s still a pretty nice one all by itself. :)

Hazy, dull, sparkling, pale straw color.
Smells starchy & lemony. Table wine. Non-descript apples. Not really funky.
Taste is a very basic & refreshing lactic. Lemonly, acidy apples. Juicy & prickly, almost like turned orange juice. Not much apple character. Body isn’t as thin as sidra I’m familiar with, but nor is it laced with most of those familiar ugly phenols. Carbonation is a bit bold.
A bit boring, but easily thirst quenching. It isn’t sidra, but it could easily be better than that with some tweaks.

Draught @ The Ginger Man, NYC. Pours slightly hazy pale yellow with small white head. Clear aroma of apples, sugar and cinnamon. Sweetish flavour of cinnamon and ripe apples. Sweet aftertaste. OK but nothing revolutionary.

Tap into goblet at Longman & Eagle. Comes to me with no head a pale, yet cloudy, straw color. Cannot see through it but it glows. Aroma has decent mix of sweet apple and some light tartness and funk. Its fine but a lot of apple juice more so than alcoholic cider. Flavor again has some musty apple, some light tart qualities but generally a sweet/cheap cider feel. Nothing like the good Spanish ciders I have tried. Generally, not ineresting.
