Our story starts with four friends, a collective passion for better beer, and a garage. Brewing off a 20L rig consisting of a pot, a propane stand and a few glass fermenters, the 4 broad-headed (aka big noggined) fellas honed their skills. Feedback was so positive that thirst quickly outgrew supply and the idea of opening a commercial brewery was born.
With a fraction of the capital advised to take on a project of this magnitude, the founders banked on their engineering prowess to retrofit and repurpose equipment in combination with a whole lot of sweat equity and late nights. In the fall of 2011, Broadhead Brewery kicked its doors open to the public in Ottawa, Ontario.
Over the past decade, we’ve been fortunate enough to be able to live our dream and share that dream with our incredible team and amazing customers. While much has changed since the garage days, our strong work ethic holds true, we remain focused on crafting high quality beer that’s innovative yet approachable, while leveraging the backgrounds of our founders to conduct regular feats of engineering.
(can) clear, very dark brown colour with a medium tall brown head; aroma of stewed fruit, then roast, hint of milk chocolate; balanced flavour with a long, light bitter finish

Keg at Manx Pub, Ottawa. Clear pale amber, small head. Rich perfumy kumquat aroma. Dry with light-medium body and clean , rounded mouthfeel. Cookie malt, mango and peach, some pink grapefruit. Long bitter finish. Very aromatic, with unusual hop profile. Nice!
This stout poured a deep black colour with a light brown head. Little lacing. Scents include caramel, molasses, toast and coffee. First swig had a slight watery mouthfeel but delicious flavour. Tastes of coffee, caramel and burnt toast. Finish is nice and burnt with coffee flavour lingering. Delicious! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
Pours a hazy caramel-amber colour with a beige head with decent lacing. Nice spicy aromas with lots of spices. The taste though seems quite infected with sourness. Some light spices and darker ale malts, but overpowered by the sour notes. Seemed nice with the smell, but the infection killed it.
A reddish copper ale with a very thin off white head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with light nutty notes, light grassy hops, OK. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity caramel malt with light grassy hops, light oily mouth feel, OK.
A reddish brown stout with a a thin mocha head. In aroma, light chocolate malt with light fruity esters, light mineral notes, OK. In mouth, a nice sweet chocolate malt with light blueberry, light mineral notes, OK. Cask at Caskapalooza Ottawa 2016.
Enjoyed at the Loon. Clean golden-amber colour with a small white cap and a little lacing. Very fruity aromas with some hops. The taste is also quite fruity with all the citrus and even some apricot notes. The finish is very herbal, dry and bitter. Lots of citrus, bitterness and dryness with all the fruitiness making this a nice IPA. Just not sure why an IIPA with the normal IPA alcohol content ??
Sampled at the Loon where I took the gloomy picture. Pours a clean golden-amber colour with an off-white head and decent lacing. Aromas of grainy malts with some fruitiness. Also fruity in the taste with apple notes, sweet malt, mild roasted malts and even hints of maple syrup in the finish. Mild looking Scotch ale that is fruitier than most of this style. Dryer as well.
