Amber, mainly bright and with a thin head. Deep honeyed fruitiness on the nose. Soft and sweet, with a light earthiness. A little diacetyl forming in the finish. That might not bode well in the long-run for this beer.

Hazy and murky amber colour. Sweetish, minty and lightly floral. Decent bitterness and some muddled yeastiness. They are aging some of this and I think that will help bring some of these flavours together.

Golden amber with a thick head. Aroma of lightly spicy hops, fresh amber malts and some chewy crystal in the finish. Good for the style.

Oh goodness, they put it on cask and left it there for a month? Really? A little diacetyl on the nose along with caramel. Lots of caramel and a bit watery. Kind of crackery, all kinds of diacetyl. This does not come together at all. Not a good plan for this one.

A lightly hazed amber IPA with a thin off white head. In aroma, a sweet butterscotch malt with sulfur notes, ripe fruits, cloying. In mouth, a light crisp biscuit malt with grassy hops, strange sulfur notes, a bit unpleasant. Cask at Ontario Cask IPA Challenge, April 21, 2012.

Smells like a little honey and malt, some cereal. Amber mahogany colour. Very little leave, a little tang is the only taste. It isn’t foul and there’s nothing overtly wrong with it. A good session campus beer, as the name goes. If they replaced all the molson taps at campus bars with this stuff, Toronto might get smart enough not to elect Rob Ford as mayor again. Bottle at Saving Gigi on Bloor and Ossington.

barVolo, Toronto tap ($7ish): (Purchased it under the name Niagara College Berliner Weisse) Pours an orange color, which was a bit dark for a Berliner Weisse. Aroma has a definite sour mash element coupled with the wheat. Fortunately, this was not watery as some other BWs are. Taste is moderately sour. Refreshing for the most part. Not overly complex. A good Berliner Weisse, but not amongst the few that I had that blew me away.
