This dunkel poured a deep dark Amber colour with a tan coloured, foamy head. Scents include ripe fruit, molasses, dough and rich malt. First swig was a little thin but delicious. Flavours of roasted malt and ripe fruit most prominent. Finish is sweet and smokey. Very nice dunkel!

Draft - Corn and grains. Pale gold with almost no head. Grains and light bitterness. Dry and grainy. Had this as the Hungry Brew Hops house lager, but pretty sure this is the same thing.

Nothing really sour about this one. Tastes like a brown ale, though it pours kind of reddish. Some coffee, some roast malt. A little sour, a little bitter. Cask Days 2013.

(Cask at Victory Cafe, Oct 5 2013) Poured black with a ring of tan bubbles. Aroma relatively faint, chocolate, some roast, not much coffee. Flavour had chocolate, roast coffee, some slight dark fruit, slight roasted malt. Finish was fairly dry, bitter, roast coffee. Mouthfeel watery, not rich like an oatmeal stout should be, maybe the cask wasn’t at its best but this was unobjectionable and uninspiring.

Doesn’t come together well. Merlot infused or merlot barrel? Pours murky brown without head or lacing. Aroma of merlot wine and booze. Some roast malt, though minimal. Low carbonation. Sweet finish and pretty light overall palate. Tap at Session.
