Bottle, as Kjaerstrup Chocolate Stout. Aromas of vanilla, chocolate, butter, caramel. Dark brown with tan head. Taste is much the same, like a crossover between a sweet chocolate toffee and a stout. Probably it will be too overwhealming to drink a bottle, but I sheared it with four friends, and then it was good. Rating: 6-4-8-3-17-3.8. 050923

Bottle, as Choko Stout. It’s a dark chestnut beer, clear, and with a small, beige head. Chocolate, dried fruits, some hints of DMS and a pleasant roasted touch in the aroma. Coffee, chocolate and dried fruits in the flavor, finishing with mostly chocolate. Medium body. A nice beer indeed, but not as nice as I remember it from five years ago, guess my palate has evolved. 100917

500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 5.7%. Dark ruby nearly black colour, large tan head. Aroma is overhelming chocolate (like chocolate sauce), artificial vanilla, cocoa, candy and caramel. Definitely too much of all the sweet aromas. Flavour is not quite as overwhelmingly sweet as the aroma makes you fear, but pretty close. Again: too much chocolate, cocoa and artificial vanilla, some coffee notes too. I’m not amused. Couldn’t finish the bottle.

Bottled, alc. 5.7 % (BB 03/2006, different label than in RB photo)
Dark ruby, good tanned head, lace. Strong nose of milk chocolate and vanilla pudding. Suprisingly this is not very sweet - more like hoppy bitter with dark chocolate (coffee, cocoa). Long bitter aftertaste with burnt coffee beans.

Another good beer fram Svaneke. Wonderfull appearence, excellent off-white head, fully lasting, week aroma but delicate with hints of citrus, malt and chocolate, heavy bitter flavour, but average finish, a little bit watery for this type of beer.

A hazy red beer with a thin orange head. The aroma is of honey, yeast, and esters from the warm fermentation. The flavor is sweet with notes of straw and honey, the honey gives it a sticky mouthfeel. Except for the honey, this beer is very like the normal Svanke beers.

Nut red-brown, small tanned head. Strong rye bready nose, very malty, a bit roasted. Malty, sweetish, burnt sugar and bread. Crisp alcohol. Sweet dessert doublebock!

(Bottle 50 cl) Dark redbrown, unfiltered beer with a lightly brownish head. Sweetish and very, very vinous - less bitter than your typical Doppelbock. Unusual and very refined. 110704

(Bottle 50 cl) Very deep amber colour - close to chestnut brown - creamy, beige head. Lots of caramel in the nose with a weak, sourish edge. Full-bodied, slightly sweetish body and again with distinct caramel in the flavours. I believe I sense the honey too. And then it contains the typical Svaneke house character - I believe it’s the yeast. This is an excellent brew indeed. 170805
