It is a classical and nice porter, a bit watery for the style but it is ok with roasted malt, coffee, hop, mineral and watery, 27.10.17, at the Pibar with Raoul

Backlog November 2013. Deep reddish brown, almost black body under dense beige head. Aroma of dark malt, chocolate, wood and red berries. Taste is sweet, dark malt, some fruity acidity, cherry, wood and dry fruit. Fine body with long lasting finish. Some vinous alcohol.

Backlog May 2014. Dark amber, almost black body under a big, lacing beige head. Aroma of roasted, dark malt with a hint of whisky. Taste is sweet, dark, roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, coffee, mild wood and alcohol. Balanced bitterness. Fine body and pleasant aftertaste. Rather similar to the un-barrelled version, but some impact from the whisky barrel. Still I prefer the original version a tad better in taste.

Backlog May 2014. Dark amber, almost black body under a medium sized, dense beige head. Aroma of roasted, dark malt with a hint of dark chocolate. Taste is sweet, dark, roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla and some coffee. Balanced bitterness. Fine body and pleasant aftertaste. Quite straight forward, but tasty and well made.

Personally, I had a good experience with this beer, interesting ale with notes of cherry, oak barrel, dry and bitter with a side of malt, 27.01.19, buying it in promotion from the pibar, Lausanne, tasting it at Epalinges.
Strong alcoholic palate, at the same time quite thin. A bit sour. OK for slow sipping, not completely my thing. Happy to finally get my hands on a Mumme.

Backlog October 2013. Black body under a fine, dense beige head. Pleasant aroma of dark, roasted malt and mocha. Taste is sweet, dark malt, mild coffee and hint of chocolate. Body feels a bit light. Decent but the aroma is more promising than the actual taste.

330ml can at Pardoen, Rotterdam. Poured big hazy yellow golden colour with a lasting huge, frothy white head. The aroma is grainy, floral. The flavour is over moderate bitter, with a crisp, big herbal, dry woody hop bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. I’m not sure the hop combination was the best here. Way too bitter and the flavours were not great.

330ml bottle. Minimally milky, orange, dark golden colour with small, creamy, fading, white head. Sweet-ish, wheaty malty and phenolic, yeasty aroma, hints of overripe banana, banana bread. Taste is wheaty malty and, well, I don't know, somehow bittergrassyphenolicmineral, a touch of seabuckthorn, sand, moss, reed.
Oily texture, smooth and soft, minimally greasy palate, soft to flat carbonation.
Don't know what went wrong here - brackish, inedible.
