Description

Personally, I had a good experience with this beer, interesting ale with notes of cherry, oak barrel, dry and bitter with a side of malt, 27.01.19, buying it in promotion from the pibar, Lausanne, tasting it at Epalinges.

Backlog October 2013. Black body under a fine, dense beige head. Pleasant aroma of dark, roasted malt and mocha. Taste is sweet, dark malt, mild coffee and hint of chocolate. Body feels a bit light. Decent but the aroma is more promising than the actual taste.

330ml can at Pardoen, Rotterdam. Poured big hazy yellow golden colour with a lasting huge, frothy white head. The aroma is grainy, floral. The flavour is over moderate bitter, with a crisp, big herbal, dry woody hop bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. I’m not sure the hop combination was the best here. Way too bitter and the flavours were not great.

330ml bottle. Minimally milky, orange, dark golden colour with small, creamy, fading, white head. Sweet-ish, wheaty malty and phenolic, yeasty aroma, hints of overripe banana, banana bread. Taste is wheaty malty and, well, I don't know, somehow bittergrassyphenolicmineral, a touch of seabuckthorn, sand, moss, reed.
Oily texture, smooth and soft, minimally greasy palate, soft to flat carbonation.
Don't know what went wrong here - brackish, inedible.

Pours a reddish amber/brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of malts, caramel, yeast, dried fruits, hops. Flavour is light to moderate malty sweetness with a decent bitterness in the aftertaste. A bit too thin bodied.

Dark brown colour with an off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark fruits, caramel, light spiced. Flavour is similar, moderate malty sweetness. Like the Poolvos, a bit thinnish. Still, a nice brew that I enjoyed.

Hazy golden colour with a white head. Aroma of malts, fruits, spices, hop and a little yeast. Flavour is much the same, with a nice bitter aftertaste.
