Bottle. Malty, sweet aroma. Dark chestnut brown colour, stable rocky head. Strong, malty flavour with warmth from the alcohol. Nice, creamy, swelling mouthfeel. Nice, dryish aftertaste.

Devil’s blonde with a thick white big bubbled head. The aroma is rich in yeast and lemons, with notes of orange peels. In mouth, rich vreamy mouthfeel with nice sweet malts, coriander, and nice sharp hoppy bitterness, and a smooth alcohol in finish, warming you up. Always a delight.

(Bottle 33 cl) Dark amber with a nice, full head. Lots of floating sediments that creates small, bubbly geysers when they settle at the bottom of the glass. Typical, dark- malty flavours with a very full body. Fresh rather than sweet with a subdued touch of hops. 251093

(Bottle 33 cl) Beautiful amber coloured beer with a tall, pretty head. Hazy and unclear. Full-bodied, rather fruity with a pleasant soft hop-touch. Extremely easy to drink in spite of the high alcohol. A very warming strong abbey beer. 060993

Bottle. A sweet peach/lemon and malt aroma. Light yellow color with ample head. Slightly sweet apple and malt flavor with an acidic and mild alcohol finish. Rerate - damn, just over 10 years later (with best before Jan 2015 - cap looks Kulminator worthy). Poured into a Duvel tulip (cause everyone knows that Belgian beer tastes better when it’s poured into a glass that advertises the beer you’re drinking). Lemon, orange, peach malt and straw aroma (with cardboard as well due to the typical oxidation). Hazy golden yellow with giant head. Sweet apple, orange, peach, malt and mildly bitter hay flavor. Acidity much less. Would have been excellent without the oxidation.

Bottle. Slightly hoppy and wheaty aroma. Golden colour, white head. Wheaty flavour with a little acidic feel to it. Nice bitterness in aftertaste. Very decent beer.

(bottle) Red to amber colour with a little tanned creamy head. Malty aroma with some fruity and vinous notes. Medium dry flavour with a taste of roasty malts and liquorice, quite lasting and lingering bitter finish. A fine and enjoyable strong Ale.

(Bottle 33 cl) Beautiful, huge and stable head. Hazy with lots of yeast in the aroma. Sweetish but never cloying. Very complex strong ale. Reminds me of spring in Antwerpen with all the bourgeois ladies sipping this at the cafés... 220493

Bottle: Mighty rocky white head, straw golden colour, clear; mainly fruity nose (pears, oranges, yeast), but also with a slightly herbal hoppiness; a tinge of sweetness in the beginning switches over to a dry, very long lasting hoppy finish; fizzy, but very smooth and well rounded; deceptive, beginners may take it for a stronger "Pilsener".........

I have had this beer a few times both on draft and from the bottle. I find the draft to be very bitter and lacking in any other character. I tend to avoid the draft. The bottle is decent though. Sampled from an 11.2 oz bottle for this rating this beer pours a dark caramel color with a huge creamy tan head. The aroma is sweet malt and spicy hops. The flavor is strongly sugary, nicely malty, mildly sour and has a light fruity undertone. The hops are nicely noticeable. There is a mild alcohol burn underneath.
