Description
Founded on July 1st 2016, Brouwerij De Feniks is all about Living your Passion (in our case : brewing the great beers we love and helping others do to the same) and keep doing what you love no matter what. As you only live once, you will find out at some point that it pays off on emotional/satisfaction and many other levels to follow your passion. Under adversity, if you stumble and fall, or even crash and burn, remember that you can Always rise from your ashes like the mythical Feniks bird as long as you keep believing and continue to live that passion... And if you do, have a great beer on us !

Bottle at Mouterijtje Kortrijk. Clear gold colour lasting white head Hoppy aroma. Quite a big blond. I wouldn't say heavy but quite a bit of esters. Lots of spicy hops. 150 beers let's strap in. Good bitterness on the finish. Just a little heavy to be super drinkable

Oranje bruin bier met schuim. Smaak is licht bitter hoppig en zoet kruidig met de cardemon duidelijk aanwezig. Aparte smaak die goed past bij de fruitige hop bitterheid.

Pale yellow beer, lightly hazy under a small white rim. Grapey nose, farmyard & horseblanket, putteke , green fruit. Very sour, lactic and lemon, barnyard flavours. White wine, green grapes. Dry-out effet, ultra tart, low carbonation, acidthinning and some -burn. Sour, but good! The 'spontaan' is absolutely plausible.

No head, dark Armagnac coloured beer, clear. Soapy, whiskey, resin, Badedas. Sweet, caramel, toffee in the flavour. Faint booze, difficult to specify. Flavours of almonds, dried figs, nougat. Feels light, almost empty for such a big beer. The aftertaste yields dark raisins, intense. Strong - but doesn't give the impression. Quite sweet, leaving not much else.

Almost no head, deep dark ruby beer. Very vinous, red wine, even portwine, cherries, other red fruit. Sour cherries, tart red berries, even buckthorn, billberry, raspberry and others. Maltbacking is just right to give it a serious beercharacter, not just fruitdrink. Very tart, dry-out effect, medium carbonation at best. AH!!! Finally Guido Feniks has again moored at the Quelque Chose quality!

The bottle I’m holding contains 33 cl and came from Belgium’s Finest. My globe glass awaits the pour, dark brown with amber around the edges finished by a consistent, taupe head. I smell dark fruit and a curious roasty effect. But I’m here for the taste. Sweet dates, charred barrel, grain, malt, sweet vanilla and cherries. Did I mention the sweetness? Some too much, even for me. I anticipated a knock it out of the park brew. It’s more like a stand-up double and, yes, I use baseball analogies here, trust they make sense. Still a decent beer in one of my favorite styles.

Bottle from an online shop. Drunk with a chocolate fondant cake and a sauce of home grown gooseberries with butter, brown sugar, and raspberries. Very dark brown with a creamy head of fine bubbles. Nose is chocolate, a hint of sweetness, complex roast notes. Big brown sugar and molasses mid palate with nice toffee and coffee adding to the complexity. Sweet but not cloying; moderate bitterness. A bit of metallic taste, some alcohol notes but then again it's ten percent.

Bottle. Color: Murky reddish brown, very thin off-white head. Aroma: Bourbon, caramel fudge, malty. Taste: Medium sweet, Bourbon, caramel, vanilla. Malty. Light to moderate bitterness. Bit sugary, candy sugar. Hints of dark dried fruit and almond, marzipan. Some pear. Over medium body, low carbonation. Ok, but would have benefit from some more carbonation in my opinion.
