Description
Eylenbosch comes back to life in 2019, after almost 30 years of hibernation. Founded in 1886 by Emile Eylenbosch in Schepdaal, the Eylenbosch brewery grew into one of the most important producers of lambic and geuze in the last century, with an absolute high point at the 1958 world expo. Advantage of the industrial lager, and also Eylenbosch closed its doors and stopped production in the early 90s.
But luckily that wasn't the end of the story for this historic brewery. In 2018, Erik De Keersmaeker decided to focus on his passion after a number of other challenges. As the fifth generation of a brewery family from Kobbegem, De Keersmaeker brings the Eylenbosch brewery and its iconic beer back to life. He does this together with the young brewer Klaas Vanderpoorten and study friend Jeroen Lettens. The new Eylenbosch Brewery is dedicated to tradition and authenticity, and will brew its lambic using the traditional method and recipes.

Pours as a full, 100% glass of foam. The opening wasn't very forcefull though, no gusher at all. Scent is mild, some brett and oak, but very tuned down. Taste is very dry, sharp acidic (loads of lemon-acid-like) , but some other acids to give a more complex structural backbone. Quite malty, almost fleshy finish that's quite nice. Never very loud, but certainly more outspoken in the taste than the aroma. I kinda like it. Not nearly as overcarbonated as feared.

Amberkleurig bier met veel stevig schuim wat ng blijft staan. Smaak is bitterzoet en kruidig met iets van karamel, wat kardemon, gras en groenten. Bijzondere maar best aangename smaak.

Bottle that we picked up from Belgium on recent trip, consumed at home Monday 23rd June 2025 sat out in the garden on a day of mixed weather, gorgeous sunshine but also thunder and lightning and showers. We've got Purple Sprouting Broccoli and Gorgonzola Gnocchi for tea tonight. Pours deep old blood red with a head that disappeared in a wink. There is a lot of sour cherry here, tart, sour, zappy, funky and dry at the end. I like this, great on a summer day.

Draught at t'Bruges Beertje. It pours clear rich cherry red with a thick, lasting magenta head. The aroma is fresh, ripe, crunchy cherry , tangy, juicy, vinous, cherry wine, some acidity, strawberry notes, dull balsamico and jam. The taste is smooth, juicy, tart, tangy, vinous, bright acidity, puckering, crunchy ripe cherry, cherry stone, jammy, natural red wine, raspberry pip, subdued funk and barnyard with a bone dry finish. Medium body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Lovely stuff. Robust and satisfying.
