Barrel aged in Chardonnay this farmhouse saison is a nice bright gold. The aroma delivers the Chardonnay character as well as mild saison notes. I felt it had a crisp clean flavor of pears, peaches, chardonnay. It was really well done and drank very easily. I tried to buy a bottle at the fest but alas they wouldn’t sell me any...

June 2013 bottle @ home, via my rotbox. Hazy yellow-orange appearance with a healthy, off-white head. Aroma shows some signs of age - stale malts especially - along with some floral and big orange citrus notes. There’s also some heavy sugar in the nose and some spice notes (pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove). Quite sweet and high alcohol content. Low bitterness. Sort of tastes like an over aged Belgian blonde like an old Westy Blonde though not as good. A lot of spice and a lot of alcohol. Time hasn’t helped this beer at all. It is fine right now but not great.

Sample from a bottle. Pours a hazy brown, with a small, foamy, beige head. The nose is licorice, caramel, burnt toast, and chalk. Sweet and malty flavor. Medium body, a little thin, and smooth. Overall, this is a weak porter, with some fairly unpleasant aromas and a weak palate.

Sample from a bottle. Hazy red color, with a small, off-white head. The nose is distinctly raspberry, and it is hard to get anything else. Maybe some coriander, banana, and caramel. Sweet and fruity, with a bit of hop bitterness that cuts the sweetness down a bit. Medium body, acidic, crisp, and a little clingy. Overall, this is a very aggressively fruited beer, but done quite well.

Sample from a bottle. Pours an unclear yellow, with a big, frothy, white head. The nose is biscuits, lemon zest, straw, and some floral hops. Sweet flavor, with a light, crisp bitterness. Light body, crisp, lightly effervescent, and silky. This is a pretty solid American Koelsch, and a refreshing, easy beer.

Spring 2013 bottle @ home, via my rot box. Pours a murky reddish brown appearance with a medium sized brown head. The aroma has mild whiskey, caramel, chocolate covered bananas, pears, apples, vanilla, oak, and some booze. Body is a little thin. A little bit of tartness which is a little weird. Mild booze, lots of fruit (pear, berry, apple), caramel, and tiramisu in the flavor. Pretty unique with a lot of fruit but all too thin. Ok.

Winter 2012 bottle @ home via my rot box. Pours a fairly clear, brown appearance with a big, long-lasting brown head. Aroma has some milk chocolate, mild roast, green pepper, vanilla, and spice. Body is a bit thin. A little twangy flavor. Lightly spicy. Chocolate and vanilla. A little watery. This is certainly on the old side but it’s hard to think this was all that great fresh.
