Bottle sample @ RBBWG 2016, thanks Ben. Anno 2013, bottle# 04289. Bottled 12.18.2013.

Bottle at RBBWG 2016 in Antwerpen. Clear, very dark red to black with a tan to brown head. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity aroma of caramel, dark chocolate, dark ripe fruits and some vanilla. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity and minimally roasty taste of dark chocolate, some coffee, caramel, dark ripe fruits and vanilla, followed by a short, slightly bitter, minimally roasty finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel. Very nice!

Thank you for sharing Beerlover_Ben! 750 ml. bottle sampled @ RBBWG V. 2013 Vintage. Black with a mocha head. Nose is vinous coffee, herbal burned malts, coffee grounds, thick roasted malts, molasses & more vinous roast. Warming molasses, licorice, burned herbal malts, coffee grounds, light vinous streak, sugar, licorice herbs,… Body feels thinned. I don’t think that aging improved it, it is a good beer but compares unfavourably to other big USA Bourbon BA RIS’s.

750 ml bottle thanks to Chalumeaux, much thanks. Bottled in 2014. Amber in color, no head. Aroma is really nice. Toasted brown sugar, malted barely, English toffee, dark fruits.

The flavor is very smooth, dark fruit is deep. Layers of deep dark fruits. The 10 plus percent ABV is nicely hidden with the typical barely wine characteristics. Mouthfeel is sticky and oily in a medium or more mouthfeel. Actually pretty damn nice. Enjoyable

Bottled 10.13.2014 drunk 2/20/16.
Beige head fades to cover. Clear amber-auburn.
Very fruity with light alcohol mixing with it. Crystal malts and berries. Seems like an imperial amber ale. Not boozey.
Bitter and phenolic in the mouth with orange rind and tons of caramel-vanilla. Quite malty but not cloying. Lots of iced tea like notes from the c malts and tons of raspberry and apple esters. Low but tight carbonation. Very soft, supple malty texture. Not boozey. Very rich and a bit much for me but these guys develop great flavors. Less boozey than the quad which is surprising.

75CL , thanks TJ for sharing.

A - Red maroon color and brown hues.

S - Loads of hop bitterness on the aroma, caramel, brown sugar

T - Loads of bitterness, could probably be aged a bit better. Very sweet, a little metallic with a long lasting sweetness. Solid graham cracker malt backbone.

M - Nice creamy taste

O - Good barley wine but insanely sweet. Can’t believe this is 13%.

Sampled from bottle @ Ratebeer Belgian Winter Gathering 2016. Opaque black color, average to medium sized light brown head. Aroma is malts and wood with moderately bourbon seeping through. Not as much bourbon as I would have hoped. Taste is about the same: malts, dark malts, oak / wood, only light to moderately bourbon. A hint of tart from the wood in the distance. Chocolate, coffee? Don’t get it. Medium body and carbonation. Not as good as I had hoped.
