This brew pours a hazy bright golden color with a medium white head that evaporates steadily to a film. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, citrus and malt. Medium body with flavors of herbal hops, citrus and grainy malt. The finish is malty up front with a short fruity hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Many thanks for this beer to Erzengel. City pours a hazy amber with some lacing white head. Nose has a lot of citrus pith, grapefruit pulp, piney.

Malty-floral but sticky nose. The beer starts floral and intense sticky. Pine, resin, lots of hops on a malty and not too sweetish body. Intense flora hops, nice moderate bitterness. Quite dry and intense hoppy-floral aftertaste. Very fresh and intense hopped. Great stuff! Complex, full-bodied, deep!

12 ounce bottle - pours a clear medium ruby, minimal head/lace - not as Americanized as I was expecting in that it is not a major hop bomb/imperial IPA in disguise - the malts are certainly center-stage here - notes of caramel, toffee, sherry, whiskey - moderate hop spiciness followed by an alcohol warmth - for the abv, the alcohol is masked fairly well, especially considering this is a little lighter in character than same other examples of the style - it’s good, but not great.

Shared 750 ml. bottle. Reddish brown color, small beige head with very short retention and almost no lacing. Aroma has a bit of malt, bread, caramel, and honey. Tastes a bit sweet; the honey is quite noticeable. Some malt and alcohol as well, but not enough to balance the sweetness of the honey.

750mL bottle from Ernest (thanks), drunk 10/23/15.
Big white head is rocky and well-retained. Rich maize colored beer with notes of orange and tangerine skin. Clarity is high, leaving sediment behind.
Huge grape juice, oak, vanilla, rich honey/caramel malt and strong, heavily fruity esters ranging from pineapple to peach/mango. Light alcohol obvious, with a bit of bubblegum and light clove dryness on the end, as well. Hmmm, well, this is certainly....bold.
Rich, malty honey and caramel character falls pretty well in the middle of the sweet/dry spectrum. On one hand, it could definitely be more dry, but on the other, as this is obviously intended to be a very flavorful beer, it certainly does need some residual sugar to balance everything. The body is full, with ample carbonation and a supple, malty texture. No problems there and the chardonnay character is certainly prominent, though not astringent or heavily buttery (tending more towards a white grape juice-like flavor). Vanilla, lightly acidic oak and alcohol mix with esters to provide quite a strong finish. Peach, clove, light bubble gum and lots of doughiness. At 10%, the stuff is pretty aggressive and though very rough around the edges, things could be ALOT worse.
