Description
Charles Doerr and Simon Chevillot are two childhood friends from Toulon, who after working on tours or music festivals in the region became beer lovers. The city of Toulon being devoid of its local beer, the two friends decided to offer a craft beer. After perfecting their techniques in brewing training schools in Douai and Nancy, during the summer of 2015 they launched their beer under the name of Bière de la Rade.

La Bière de la Rade is an independent micro-brewery, created in the heart of Toulon. Based on our past experiences, we have kept our adventurous mindset, we will continue to push the boundaries to constantly innovate. It is through beer that we have chosen to unite around a new way of consuming. Aware of the current challenges, Bière de la Rade brings people together without difference and with respect for the environment and organic farming.

We brew beers that we love, of the Anglo-Saxon type, by their flavors and their production methods, beers of character with a strong identity and generous hop dosages. Our initial range of three beers has now been expanded with two new recipes and we regularly brew ephemeral, seasonal and collaborative beers.

Sympa !

On tap at Beerlove Fest in Montpellier... where I did not expect to find a fairly decent, if slightly DMS ridden, czech-style pils, yet I did anyway

33cl bottle from Epicery & Co, Toulon; BB 12th May 2023. Drank in the bay of Biscay as we sailed back to Southampton from the Med on 25th June 2022. Misty amber with a red hue, off-white topping. Malty front to the nose and taste, some citrussy esters and flavours in there too. Liked it.

Petite Provence Tasting - many thanks to Lander for sharing! Clear orange, small, foamy, white head. Aroma of mango, lychee, peach, orange, biscuit, honey. Taste has sweet mango & orange over a biscuit-malty base, softly bitter citrus peel, bit piney. Floral hoppy finish, tad piney again, bittersweet mango & citrus. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Correct, perfectly drinkable.

Pours a slightly hazy golden, topped with a big fluffy white head that soon settles to a small cap. Spices dominate in the nose, rural feel with some fruitiness way in the back. Taste like it should be - wheaty, moderately spicy. This transfers to aftertaste where it turns into more peppery notes. Light body. Ok wit.
