So Monks Brewed.
What made monastic breweries different was that the monks brought patience, process and dedication to the practice of brewing. At Monkless, there are no monks, but this is our devotion. We practice patience to perfection in our brewing process, and focus exclusively on Belgian-style ales.

16oz can from Brewers Haven. Dark brown pour with a fizzy beige head. Immediate aroma of raspberries, followed by chocolate, boozy notes. Taste is sweet, a small blast of berries, then rich chocolatey flavors. Plums underlay all of this and the ABV comes in near the finish. I'm really starting to like these guys a lot.

16oz can from Brewers Haven. Mahogany pour, thin film of beige head. Yeasty aroma, tannins, tobacco, raisins, prunes. Taste brings a tinge of sweetness, Belgian yeast flavors, pit fruit, light tingle at the back. Pretty damn authentic.

On tap at BitterCreek Boise Lightly foggy pale golden. Fine dense lasting off white head. Nice smooth full bodied. Not getting much peppercorn but smooth and pleasant. With a hint of the continental wit yeast.

Poured from the tap. Slightly hazy gold with small white head. Light booze and floral notes, saison yeast. Underwhelming.

5oz shared with Ryan. Appearance: a bit hazy golden with a white head. Aroma: very fruity with nice sweet flowers notes. Taste: malty, some boozy notes, some Belgian saison notes. Finishes with hoppy bitterness. Overall: this is definitely not a classic Belgian Triple. I would say it is a Belgian Imperial Saison or smth like thay.

On tap at Monkless, pours a hazy mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out Belgian yeast, candi sugar and a hint of berry. Flavour is boozy and estery, with improperly utilized Belgian yeast and plenty of candi sugar. The cherries aren't that prominent. Yet another inept Belgian beer from these Americans—not terrible but just not dialled in right.

On tap at Monkless, pours a hazy mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toffee, alcohol, Belgian yeast and fruity esters. Flavour is chaotic, with Belgian yeast, fruity esters, and booze. Sweet and boozy, with fruity esters galore. Lacking complexity and proper integration. Not good.

On tap at Monkless, pours a hazy bright amber mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma is somewhat estery, with bubblegum, toffee and bready caramel. Flavour is boozy and estery, with little integration or complexity; there's toffee, alcohol, floral and candi sugar. Too estery and boozy; they haven't controlled the yeast properly. Needs work.

On tap at Monkless, pours a clear pale golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma is somewhat Duvel-like, with candi sugar, light esters. Flavour is trying to be Duvel but cannot manage it — it's too sugary and estery, but manages to still be cohesive. Pleasant attempt but just doesn't clear the bar in terms of being convincingly Belgian-like. Good overall.

On tap at Monkless, pours a cloudy bright yellow with a small white head. Aroma is like a hazy IPA with Belgian yeast esters cluttered around. Flavour reveals citrus hops, chalk, and candi sugar with little complexity. Jumbled and fruity. Not a disaster but it's not curated properly.
