Bottle, courtesy og Papsoe. A gorgeous-looking black beer topped by a dense, dark beige head. Where the appearance is wonderful, the flavor and aroma is just above mediocre. Burnt, roasted nose with coffee. The flavor is much the same, adding some hints of dried fruits. Full-bodied and dry. It’s a nice beer, but a bit too one-tracked for my likings. 090821

Bottle from South Bay Drug. Pours a hazy orange gold. Aroma of orange zest. Not quite medium body; carbonation is fritzy. Flavor is wheat combined with orange, spice, and arguably honey. It’s slightly sweet, but the citrus and spice tend to balance it. It’s rather strong in flavor. Definitely makes a statement. It was a bit messy at first, but with time the orange clarifies as the main tone.

Bottle from South Bay Drug. Pours gold with a frothy white head. Aroma is sort of citrus. Body is less than medium, and carbonation is moderate. Flavor is rather orange, along with something like pale malt. Citrus develops more strongly into the finish. It’s an ok beer, but not one I would go to great effort to obtain.

22 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear amber color with a medium-large frothy, creamy tan head. Good head retention and mottled lacing. Nice looking beer. Nice caramel, toffee and slightly nutty maltiness supports a citrus and floral hop aroma with a bit of resin and herbalness. Bitter citrus hop taste with a twinge of resin and wood and a lot of grapefruit in the finish. Not as well balanced as the aroma, but still good. Medium bodied and a bit of a lingering hop burn. Decent IPA.

Bottle at Chriso pre-GBBF tasting 09. Arh yes, the Idiot Patrik Ale. Gold/amber with thin white head. American hop aroma. Pretty decent hop on mouth, esp on the end. Lovely hops all over, decent malts. Really good lovely hops. Went in search for more. 4.1 Re-rate. I did in fact went in search for more and found it at Utobeer for £9.80. But so worth it. Scum of dry hop around the lip of the bottle when I opened it. Unattractive hazy copper. Lasting thin beige. I love the big sweet piney resiny hop aroma. Chris thinks the malts are a bit sweet and I guess they are to an extent but that could just be the alcohol coming through too. Yes a bit boozy, but happy to ignore this fact for the symphony of resiny super hops. I’m an idiot for liking something so big. I don’t think unbalanced though. I mean it’s no Nanny State. In terms of big double IPAs, I love it. Maybe not quite as good as Hercules or Double Simcoe, but I do like it very much. Burping hops as you drink it is lovely.

Bottle that I picked up from Bellingers, Jet Garage, Grove Nr Wantage, Oxon, consumed 19-09-09 Pours warm yellowy colour with white head. There is a spicy sweet citrus aroma. The taste is pleasant enough but its possibly too sweet. There is a touch of furry dryness and bitterness in the mouth and maybe a slight metallic edge, the coriander is also a tad overdone. Despite the criticisms I rather liked this, yes it was a tad crudely done, but it was refreshing tasty and slipped down well. A6 A4 F6 P3 Ov13 3.2

Bottle. Good coffee aroma, hint of sourness. Black colour, seems hazy. The flavour is creamy, has a good coffee flavour. The mild kind, with a little sourish bitterness. Good.
