Description
With a foundation in homebrewing in 1992, Paul Kavulak set about to experiment within a hobby that would prove both entertaining and, at times, refreshing. Over a period of roughly 13 years, and with the able assistance of his wife Kim, this activity led to the opening of the Nebraska Brewing Company’s brewpub in Shadow Lake Towne Center in Papillion, Nebraska, on November 17, 2007. A new production brewery and taproom were opened in January of 2014. Located on the south side of the Omaha Metro, but still a large part of the Omaha Craft Beer scene.

(Bottle, taster, Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival, 9 Oct 2021) Black colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted, slightly vinous nose with notes of espresso, chocolate, caramel and treacle. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, dark chocolate, oak wood, tar, liquorice, dark fruit and a balanced coffee bitterness. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Powerful and a bit vinous, but solid and really tasty imperial stout. Great beer.

Bottle at home shared with Tessy. Hazy reddish to lightly red-brownish color, average sized off-white to beige head. Aroma and flavor are malts, sweetness, raisins, heavy whiskey, figs, dark brown candy sugar, burnt sugar lightly, oak, vanilla in the distance. Typical heavy whiskey barrel aged barley wine. Pretty good.

Bottle at home. Light brown color, light red glare, small to average sized off-white to beige head. Aroma is malts, raisins, heavy whiskey. Flavor is malts, again heavy whiskey barrel aging going on in there, raisins a little again, sweetish somewhat bitter in the finish. Nice beer, perfect for a cold winter night.

Braun wie der Nam verrät, leicht nussig, malzig. Hinten etwas wässrig. Insgesamt ganz okay.

Bomber from Brewers Haven. 2019 vintage. Deep golden body, with small creamy head and active carbonation. White wine is first in the aroma, wheat. Wine dominates the taste too, with some subtle weizen characteristics in the background. Seems to have held up with two years cellar time. Sweet.
