Description
With a foundation in homebrewing in 1992, Paul Kavulak set about to experiment within a hobby that would prove both entertaining and, at times, refreshing. Over a period of roughly 13 years, and with the able assistance of his wife Kim, this activity led to the opening of the Nebraska Brewing Company’s brewpub in Shadow Lake Towne Center in Papillion, Nebraska, on November 17, 2007. A new production brewery and taproom were opened in January of 2014. Located on the south side of the Omaha Metro, but still a large part of the Omaha Craft Beer scene.

Tap @ brewpub. Pink ruby appearance with a disappearing off white head. Syrupy, floral, berry fruity aroma. Quite sweet, raspberry fruity, floral, red grape, spicy flavor. Low carbonation and messy. Too bad.

Tap @ brewpub. Golden appearance with a white head. Upfront fruity esters in the nose with notes of banana, citrus fruits, and apricot. A little boozy, fruit forward, a little piney hoppy flavor. Lots of citrus fruits which is nice but the booze is a little out of control. The barrel aged version has a more mellow alcohol note.

Tap @ brewpub. Hazy yellow appearance with a white head. Pretty rich banana creamy, a bit spicy yeasty, moderate clove aroma that is quite nice and not overpowering. A touch tart, spicy yeasty, fairly sweet banana flavor. Not a ton going on but it is delicious.

Tap @ brewpub. Clear, light golden appearance with a white head. Lightly fruity, effervescent, straw, sweet pils malty aroma. Tasty, straw, pils malty flavor with some light citrus notes. Easy to drink. The best golden ale I’ve ever had? I think so.

Bottle shared at my CBC birthday, London. Pours black-brown with a creamy, beige head. Chocolate cake aroma, some roasted malts. Medium to big sweet flavor, sturdy roast character, dark burnt toast, dark sugar, some light licorice, a bit of burnt wood. Full bodied with fine carbonation; although, it could be fuller. Warm finish with notes of burnt wood, peat, burnt moss, cocoa, earth, dark chocolate. Solid impy.
