Bottled. Deep red colour with a small pinkish foay head. Aroma is nutty, some cherries and sweetness. Flavour is cherries, almonds and a kind of sweetish tart finish. A bit too much on the artificial side.

Bottled. Hazy orangeish golden colour with a small white foamy head. Aroma is earthy, some bread and grains. Flavour is herbal, earthy, bready, grainy and also has some kind of fruity-syrupy tones. Not feeling that fresh, though still lots of time until BBE marking is hit.

Can from the advent calendar. Toasty nose, caramelized malt, nutty, slightly burnt. Deep brown with orange tints and a tall milkshake head. Nutty, toasty, slightly smoky, bacon, smoked salmon. I wonder if they used rauchmalz too? Nice caramel, but not too sweet. Toasty, smoky finish with light hop bitterness. This is a winner and a treat.

Mein Exemplar kam von der Egerer-Brauerei für den amerikanischen Markt und mit einer Kalea-Box bekommen. Die mies gestaltete Dose mit der altdeutschen Schrift lässt irgendwie das Gefühl aufkommen, dass es im rechtsrechten Politik-Eck gebraut wird -die Herkunft aus dem braunen Sachsen tut das ihrige dazu bei. Der denglische Name Dark Spezial ist auch irreführend. Es ist kein Dunkles und den Spezialbegriff kann man auch dehnen. Es ist primär ein grausliches Primitiv-Lager mit schnapsigen Hintergrund und einem Geruch nach alten Schuhsohlen (nein, es war nicht alt-es ist von Haus aus grauslich). Es ist weder gemütlich süffig, malzig-süß noch spritzig-herb. Ich sehe absolut keinen Grund dieses Bier zu trinken. In Deutschland gibt es viel bessere aus aus der industriellen Ecke und in Amerika sowieso. BItte einfach nicht kaufen.

Can. Costco Advent 2021 - #19 Can. A- Faint ham brine, smoke, woodsy. A- Dark copper color, slightly hazy liquid, beige head. T- Smoke, malt, faint caramel, mild toasted biscuit. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Final beer of my advent calendar and easily the best. Nice balanced smoke flavor. Drank easy on a snow winter day.

Day 8: Zwonitzer Steinbier 5% Brown with tan foam and a bready brown sugar buns aroma with biscuit notes. Medium bodied and crisp. This is one damn smooth beer.

500ml can costco advent calender pours out crisp clean amber copper topped with a sand head. Nose is smoked meat grain and grass. Taste is more of the touch of smoke light grain and some spice.

500ml can from advent calendar. Light amber pour, small frothy head. Malty aroma with some smoky notes. Taste is toffee, bacon with some fruity accents. Toasted bread also comes to mind. Very interesting.

Can, the Kalea/ Aldi pack. Clear amber with a fading off white head. Aroma is toasty with hints of honey and smoke, light spices. So it tastes. Perhaps lacks a bit of body but a craeml edge without a great deal of sweetness, hints of smoke and firmish slightly spicy bitterness.
