Description
The Obergärige Hausbrauerei Uerige (top-fermented craft brewery) is not a museum, but an exceedingly modern food business where a craft rich in centuries of tradition is carried out. It goes without saying that the Reinheitsgebot, or Purity Law dating from 1516, is still adhered to, because its results are good and lasting, relying, as it does, on nature as one of its main factors. Which is exactly what we do, too: our yummy droplet is made of nothing but water, barley, wheat malt, and our Uerige yeast.

Thanks Shu for sharing! Taster showing amber brown with half a finger of clean white foam. The nose shows moderately intense and clean notes of malt with hints of light hops. The palate is well carbonated and light bodied. Clean with light notes of smoked malt and a hoppy bitterness on the finish followed by more grainy malt.

On tap at the brewery. A wonderful stop to kill a day in Dusseldorf as we waited for the Germany v. Italy Round of Four match in the WC 2006 the next day. Truly enjoyable.

Flip top bottle 330ml (Alko Web)
Dark ruby colour, medium-sized beige head and some lace. Raisiny, sweet, malty aroma. Light to medium-bodied. Caramalt, raisins, some breadyness in the flavour. It has kind of ESB character even. Ok.

Bottle picked up from Craftbeer-Shop.com Meyer Getränkemarkt Betriebsgesellschaft mbH, consumed at home Attenkirchen, Tuesday 17th March 2020 whilst cooking Meatballs in a Tomato sauce with Feta and Pine Nuts and listening to Tom Ravenscroft on 6Music. Pours brown, edging towards dark brown with a filmy off white head. There is a little fudge on the nose, and yet also a hoppiness also. This beer is a real grower, citrus and plenty of it, streaky and yet a nice maltiness, this beer really impressed me.

A dark brown beer, a head is quite big and blond. Aroma has fruitness of banana, caramel, some breadyness. Taste has banana, breadyness, strong bitterness that's nicely drying the taste. Medium+ bodied, nice and smooth. Good.
