Põhjala Brewery is the brainchild of three friends and beer aficionados who, like many a future craft brewer, got tired of the tasteless watery lagers that the faceless megacorporations have saturated the beer market with.

We brew small batches of hand crafted ales, using the best malts, loads of mostly New World hops and a relentless passion for good beer. When creating our beers, we are inspired by Nordic nature, Estonian new cuisine and the work of our fellow microbrewers in the U.S., UK and Scandinavia who, in our opinion, are leading the craft beer revolution.

Thx! for sharing. Sampled draft @ BAF 2015. Amber, small white head. Nose is grainy thin roasted coffee mixed with cereal & caramel sweetness. Taste is odd cereal, odd mix with mocha, grainy thin roasted coffee, sweetish. Creamy cereal body, vanilla, powdery thin coffee. My first white stout. Interesting, doesn’t entirely work for me.

Bottle from Slijterij van Pernis. Black coloured with a thin brown head. Nose is roasted malts, chocolate, coffeee, rum, alcholic. Flavour is roasted malts, coffee, rum, wood. A bit thin and boozy. A bit unbalanced.

Draught @ BrewDog Helsinki, Tarkkampujankatu 20, 00150 Helsinki, Finland. [ As Põhjala / Norway Brewing Co. Batch Zero ].Clear medium brown amber color with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, candy - sticky - sugary. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long duration, caramel, sweet malt, candy. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20150722]

Draught @ The Bishops Arms Savoy, Norra Vallgatan 62, Malmö, Sweden 201 80 - [ during RBESG15 ]. [ As Põhjala / Boneyard Baltic Notorious IPA3 ].Clear medium orange color with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, moderate to heavy hoppy, citrus, grapefruit, tropical fruit, light pine. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, tropical fruit, pale malt, fruity, dry, grapefruit, light pine. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. Kana! Kanahakkliha! Dark reddish brown colour, cream head. Fruity aroma, pineapple, mango, tropical fruits, citrus, orange zest. Bitter flavour, bitter orange zest, malts. Quite sticky. Sweet malty finish, resin, pineapple. Nice!!!!

28/IX/15 - 33cl bottle @ the turd (di)mansion (home) - BB: 20/X/15 (2015-1432) Thanks to Tinus for sharing the bottle!

Best label ever! :p Clear dark brown beer, creamy beige solid head, pretty stable. Aroma: wow, yes! That's it baby! Very fruity, lots of passion fruits, sweet ripe peaches, some caramel, holding sweet and sugary promises. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: very bitter, hoppy, slightly sweet, caramel, mocha touch, some chocolate. Aftertaste: bit medicinal bitterness, pretty roasted, very dry, hoppy, bit grassy. A little too bitter in the finish, but otherwise very decent beer. Not sure if IPA is the category to put this in, with the roast touch and chocolate notes.

Draft at Kaapse BAF ’15. Pours clear golden orange with a medium off white head. Aroma of tropical fruits, citrus, weeds, malt and toffee. Flavour is moderate sweet and light heavy bitter. Above medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Keg at Kaapse, After Borefts Beer Festival, Rotterdam, Netherlands, Saturday 26th September 2015 Decent IPA, gold in colour, I understand that this is their flagship beer and I can see why, it is very good. Decent IPA, fruity with a steady bitter bite. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov14 3.4
