Description
Andy Hepworth started brewing in Reading almost directly after University. He moved to Horsham in 1980 and within five years became the youngest Head Brewer in the country, winning many awards.

The long-standing tradition of brewing in Horsham came to an abrupt halt in 2000 with the sale of its last brewery and so Andy, determined to maintain that tradition, joined up with the key members of the brewing team in order to create Hepworths, an independent brewery aiming to build its own range of quality brands, while maintaining flexibility for contract work.

In 2016 they relocated to their current site which they co-locate with Goodwood Brewery, Laines Brew Hub and Ridgeway Brewing sharing certain facilities but not brewplants.

Bottle. Clear liggt amber, weak head. Biscuit malts, solid butterscotch and grassy hops on nose. Light body. The taste has the same notes yet the hops dominate and save the show. Medium bitterness.

500ml bottle: BBD 16th May 2018. Drank at home mid-day on 20th June 2017. I actually enjoyed this more than I expected to be honest. Decent white crown on my clear golden pour, looked good. Hoppy and tasty, nose was all about the hops with a light malty backdrop. Taste also hop centric and fairly bitter from start to finish, againa light maltiness in the back ground. More than decent.

A light, almost ephemeral, English pale ale. A very gentle flavour of dusty hops and a soft kiss of malt create a smooth and enjoyable pale ale. A low abv and gentle carbonation make this, to my mind, something special. This is a subtle beer and something that you have to think about; rather like the difference between a new world pinot noir wine and a fine red burgundy.

Clear deep golden color with almost no head. Do not look that inviting. Ok intensity in the aroma. Medium body and a soft to flat carbonation level. Tad sweet and a moderate bitterness. Caramel malty, mild crystal malt, herbal and mild buttery flavor. Not in that good condition this one.
