Description
Andy Hepworth started brewing in Reading almost directly after University. He moved to Horsham in 1980 and within five years became the youngest Head Brewer in the country, winning many awards.

The long-standing tradition of brewing in Horsham came to an abrupt halt in 2000 with the sale of its last brewery and so Andy, determined to maintain that tradition, joined up with the key members of the brewing team in order to create Hepworths, an independent brewery aiming to build its own range of quality brands, while maintaining flexibility for contract work.

In 2016 they relocated to their current site which they co-locate with Goodwood Brewery, Laines Brew Hub and Ridgeway Brewing sharing certain facilities but not brewplants.

Only rating this to stick with rating all the beers I’ve drunk since signing up. Bottle at Thali Thali, Woking. Virtually non-existant aroma. Light amber, no head to speak of. Completely flat in terms of palate, no life to it, with a sweet taste, which manages not to be sickly. I think the phrase is ’near beer’?

Big offwhite head. Clear coppery body. Fruity floral caramelly aroma with rubbery notes. Dry-sweet wooden caramelly taste with spicy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft, slightly flat mouthfeel. Dryish floral caramelly brown sugar aftertaste with perfumy toffee notes. Nice, drinkable. (0.5l bottle, from wine monopoly, Strømmen.)

Flaske delt med Ovesen ombord på Fridtjofen: kobbergylden med fint skum som varer. Høstblomster, løv og urter i aromaen. I smaken finner jeg også en felikat honningsødme. Avstemt bitterhet hele veien. En riktig god esb.
