BB 2004 bottle. Dull black olive appearance, though much more brown than black, but quite drab. Bottle conditioned. Head is nice and thick, and a light mocha color. Aroma is raisins to the max. Also some sugary malt, brown sugar and some light spice, maybe cinnamon. Alcohol perceptive on the nose, and as I dive in, it’s perceptive on the body as well. Body is full, but not heavily so. More raisins, light, light yeast on the finish, some lightly phenolic candied sugar as well. The sweetness and raisiny/fig flavor seemed a bit too dominant. Mouthfeel was pretty nice, smooth with a tinge of carbonation. I thought Rochefort 10 was much more complex.
On draught January 2005 at Anam Cara Not quite as sweet as I remember, but still a rather sticky, doughy, candy jumbled mess. Some dry notes of spice at the beginning add some balance. My small sample was not enough to change my rating either way.

Ugly pale off-yellow, however, it has one gorgeous head and lots of carbonation. Smells like a mix between gin and cider... just by the smell, I can tell this is going to finish dry, let's see if I am right. Well, the finish isn't as dry as I had anticipated. Goes in smooth and sweet, lays there tenderly, and finishes with a bittersweet liquor taste. Very nice indeed. A very drinkable beer, though at 7.5% probably not a good session beer.

Georgeous unfiltered dark brown, with a nice fluffy tan head. Reminds me of dark, dark cider with nutmeg floating around. Nice sweet alchohol scent... not too overpowering... some fruitiness in there too. This one is odd... first sip I was thinking, "Hmm, a bit too harsh and fake." But the second sip is when I truly tasted the complexity. Starts out with a sweet fruity apple, or similar fruit, and gets progressively bitter, finishing with an creamy chocolatey/coffee taste. Nice beer... not a session for it's sweetness and abv... but I'll see more of these in my future.

Nice deep brown in color, with a good sized rootbeer-like head. When it fades, it laces nicely. I don't get much of a scent... a tiny hint of something, but it's so weak I can't give a good rating here. I don't know if I got a bad bottle or if this is what this beer is supposed to taste like, but it's absolutely awful. Reminds me of eating a banana peel that's been rotting in the trash can for a few days. Finishes with a stronger taste of booze than Ketel One. With the high reviews, I must have a bad one. It's got 4 6 7 notched, though I could only guess what that could possibly mean. It's got a decent mouthfeel, but it sure is hard to keep in my mouth for very long. I'll assume I got a bad one. I've strong beers before that I quite enjoyed... a few with a higher alcohol content. This, whether it's a bad bottle or not, is undrinkable. I'll try it again and rerate if necessary.

Pours a nice blond white with a great big white head. Flavor is very yeasty and full. Kind of like drinking a cake. Good stuff either in the dead of winter or on a hot summers day.

Pours a deep dark brown color. Nice and heavy flavor of chocolate,yeasty breadyness. The flavor at the back of the throat is fruity and the the alcohol warms as it goes down. A very wonderful beer experience. A bit pricey (about $5 a bottle) but well worth it.

The aroma is sweet with strong notes of corriander and oranges - just like a witbier should be. The color is an unclear dark orange and it has a fine head. The flavor is very fresh lemony to start off before the corriander and oranges hits in the middle, just to give way for a rather hop bitter end which is very nice for a witbier. A orange dryness lingers for quite a while both on the palate and tongue. I must admit, that this is the best witbier I've ever had, and even though the style is far from my favorite, this is a beer I really like and probably will have again, when the weather gets warmer.

Hazy straw golden coloured body with a thin white head. Aroma of curacao, coriander seed and wheat. Medium-bodied; Sweet coriander flavour with orange (curacao) and wheat noticeable. Aftertaste sweetened but left mild, definately not bittered. Overall, a decent wit, sweeter more than spicey, and a good beer to try from a great brewery! I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Spirits in Washington, D.C. on 28-December-2003.

Rusty brown color, very nice lacework - mild, spicy aroma, some mustiness - tingly carbonation on the tongue - cinnamon, gingerbread, chocolate - some apple and spice, almost an apple pie-like flavor - long, spicy finish, with some nutmeg? - very nice beer, but not one that really floors you.

03 bottle. Very hazy, thick. Very little head, almost none. Deep yellow, slightly pale. Small bubbles and quite carbonated. Smells of a mildly tart hops that is fairly subtle and mixed in with a nice medium dry sugar. The body is a good medium and there is a huge champagne yeast flavor with probably the most authentic tasting wheat flavor on the finish. It is like fresh baked honey wheat bread soaked in champagne. Lightly sweet, subtle curacao flavors. Immensely well done.
