Cask at Pigs Ear 2017 - Hackney. Pours black-brown with a foamy, off-white head. The nose holds roasted malts, brown bread, mellow chocolate. Light to medium sweet flavour with some oily chocolate, earth, light alcohol. Medium bodied, oily, with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish, with drying ashy roast, bittersweet cocoa. Nice beer.

33cl bottle bought at Kew Gardens. a hazy pale amber pour with a billowing cream head; leafy aroma with a touch of yeast; fruity taste - perhaps mandarin or clementine with a smooth grainy body; and a zesty citrus finish.

Bottle at CBC Islington - care of Dirty Dan. It pours hazy gold with a massive white head. The aroma is earthy, chewy malt, wood, brown bread and a touch of candied citrus. The taste is soft, bitter - sweet, oily, earthy, brown bread, toasted oat, leather, pithy citrus and some generic fruity notes. Finish is pretty harsh and sharp. Light body and average carbonation. Pretty basic stuff overall.

Bottle at Craft Islington Share - thanks to Mr Osprey. It pours hazy amber with a small beige head. The aroma is earthy, musty, resin, wood, damp leaves and earth. The taste is dry, bitter, resin, spice, leather, wood, peppery spice, tannin and tea leaves with a drying, sort of grainy finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty underwhelming stuff.
