Description
19th century land-use plan of the area mentions a brewery owned by a certain Petronnella De Troch.
Even older records indicate that her father, Pieter De Troch, was running a brewery on the same site in the late 18th century. Petronnella married Egidius De Troch and in 1898 their son Louis took the family business over. Louis Married J. De Neve, and their son, also Louis, inherited the brewery and farm in 1936. The same Louis married M.L. Van den Moortel.
Their nephew Jos Raes and his wife M. Vanderhasselt took on the family tradition in 1974 and have been running this rare craft brewery ever since. In 2002, their son Pauwel Raes joined his parents into the family business.
In July 2012 Pauwel & his wife Kristel Schelfthout took over the brewery to continue the brewery tradition !

Bottle shared at the DCBeer February share. Poured a kind of tea-hued orange color with a wispy head. Aroma was dusty peaches, sweet peach with a little bit of tartness. I described it as "dusty peaches" when I had it.

Lots of horse blanket. Quite flat. More lambic like than gueuze. Lots of citrus. Plenty of sourness. It’s good.

Bottle from De Bierverteller, Utrecht. Tart fruity aroma with apricot, citrus, grain, some barnyard, apples, lemon, fruit peel. Flavour is tart and nicely sour, some sweetness. Body is medium. A bit crude for a Gueuze, lacks complexity, but as a Sour Ale it's quite pleasant.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours a murky purple with brief pink head and minor retention. Aroma of sweet slightly funky cherries and wood. Taste starts off with sweet and sour cherries but then leads to a stale oxidisation - some sips are more noticeable than others and its not the dominate flavour but is very distracting. Slick syrup noted mouthfeel. Not great.

Notes from 11/18/2008. The exact same alcohol content of Robitussin... interesting. First off, a pain to open. Capped & corked Juicy Juice justifying it's price tag. A strong sizzle on the pour & then it rushes back down. A murky rusted brown, it's full of floaters ...chewy. Raspberries steeped in simple sugar, with a touch of tartness & vinegar. I smell cherry Lifesavers too. It smells wonderfully juicy. Cider vinegar up front, but then a bum rush of cherry grape Juicy Juice that's just loaded with sugar. After shaking that off, the raspberries come through with a good blend of tart & sour & sweet, in that order of concentration. A dry woody finish helps wipe the initial horrible impression from my mouth, but not my mind. Almost, but I just can't get past those traumatizing juice box summer camp memories fast enough.
