Description

3rd Wiener Bierfest, Vienna, Austria. Sampled by Kis Salétrom and Szebeni Ászok.

3rd Wiener Bierfest, Vienna, Austria. Sampled by Kis Salétrom and Szebeni Ászok. SZÁ: Egy éjszakai repülésre visszatértünk a fesztre. Nézzük is mibe botlottunk. Jó kis érett cseresznye kávés beütéssel. Imperial ez a stout. KS: Olyan amerikai kávés, tudod milyen az: amolyan bő lére eresztett, beszélgetős. Olajos is, de lehetne egy kicsit testesebb.

A black beer with a big and brown head. Aroma is roasted, slightly sour and ryebread. Taste is bready and slightly roasted, some chocolate. Full- bodied, nice to drink. Too careless beer, everything are too hide, much more would be possible.

Bottle: Black coloured, big stable creamy brownish head, moderate sweet toasty nose with traces of molasses and dried fruits; moderate to solid bitter-sweet flavour, pretty light bodied for a beer of 9.0%; traces of cough syrup in the drier bitter-malty and toasty finish. Not bad, but a bit too tame…

2012-06-12, bottle from Maruhn, Darmstadt, 7-4-7-3-14=35
Black color with generous brown, creamy head. The aroma leans on a breadish kind of roasted malts; later there is some yeast. The body is weaker than other beers of similar alcohol content; roasted malt flavor, nice touch of coffee and milk; correct bitterness. Clean final.
Far from the American examples, less chocolatey and yeasty than a British example, but good nevertheless.

Black color. Mild roasted malt aroma, some earthy character too. The body is ordinary, thinner than expected, with roasted malt flavor, quite good chocolate; ordinary bitterness.
Far from being spectacular, and far from being Imperial, this is anyway a honest good brew.

2012-11-02, bottle from Maruhn, Darmstadt, 6-4-7-3-13=33
Amber color, clean and filtered; medium sized creamy head. Strange aroma, soapy, then some Parmesan. Smooth mouthfeel, some caramel flavor, harmonious, but with a cheesy touch more present than the hop; correct bitterness. Not exciting.

Hazy golden color. Very nice aroma, harmonious, with fruity hops, mango, tropical fruits, light apricot, light sweat, some biscuity cereals. Medium body, with lean mouthfeel; it has a good toffee flavor with light biscuity traces, a good bitterness level, and some hop oils, moderate fruitiness from the hop too.
Very good (it could be spectacular if it was showing more freshness).

Bottle @ Miss January / AA Meeting Afterparty Tasting, March 2012. Pours cloudy copper golden with a small white head. Marmelade, bisquit and citrus. Medium bodied. Dry end. Not much of a Double Ipa but very well balanced and pleasant.
