Description

A copper beer with a quite weak and white head. Aroma is toffeeish, some fruits, caramell, lemony and wooden hoppyness, hint of honey. Taste is toffeeish, nuts, drying wooden hoppyness. Medium bodied, nice carbonation, easy and quite dry to drink. This remind brittish ESBs, toffeeish and wooden hoppyness, a good beer.

Bottle looks really good. Beer in the glass deep black, nice brownish head. Starts intense malty, not as roasty-scratchy as other Imperial Stouts. Fine notes of liquorice and some chocolate. Warming-malty finish. The alcohol is well hidden. Unbelievable drinkable for an Imperial Stout. Great!

Bottle looks good, name is nice too. Beer in the glass zippy, nice head. Fruity aroma. Starts intense hoppy, quite fruity like peaches and apricot. Finish milder with notes of lemon. A nice one!

Bottle. Completely black, thick brown head that settles quickly, decent lacing. Aroma of dilute coffee, dark cocoa. Taste is similar. OK.

Bottle courtesy of koelschtrinker, vielen dank! Deep and clear golden color, small but thick white head, solid lacing. Aroma of subtle white pepper. Taste is bittersweet lemon and straw. Plain.

33cl bottle from Bierzwerg, BBE 01/2014. Black color with a brown head. Aroma is caramel, liquorice and quite sweet maltyness. Lots of liquorice, slight burntness and hops. Alcohol coming through more in the otherwise quite dry finish. Oily mouthfeel.

(bottle, 33cl) Black colour with a brown and dense foamy head. Roasty malty aroma with notes of dark chocolate, leather, liquorice and vanilla, accompanied by a touch of alcohol. Moderately sweet and roasty bitter flavour, full bodied with a smooth carbonation. Roasty malty base with liquorice, mocha, dark chocolate and subtle fruity notes; dry-out effect towards the roasty bitter coffee-ish finish with a warming alcoholic note. Smooth and easy-going, nevertheless complex Imp. Stout. 25.II.12

(bottle, 33cl) Clear, amber colour with a slightly tanned medium-sized blond foamy head. Cara-malty, slightly bready and biscuity aroma with an exotic-fruity and slightly piney hoppy touch. Sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Mildly (cara-)malty base with a good dash of aroma hops, which are mainly fruity and slightly piney, also giving the brew the moderately dry character; dry-ish and moderately bitter finish with an exotic fruity tang. A pleasure to see these efforts in Germany. 24.II.12

33 cl bottle @ home, BBE 01/2014
Aroma has butter, some nettles, hints of coffee and roasted malt. Flavour is somewhat hoppy with grass and nettles - almost no roastiness at all. Also hints of smoke and butter. Feels like a light black IPA - not like Imperial Stout with 9% ABV.

Aroma is fruity and grassy with hops. Also some gooseberry bush. Flavour has lots of grassy hops - and almost nothing else. Some caramel and biscuits though. Nice and hoppy - but a double IPA with 6,5% ABV? Really?
