Generous red ale, better than some Irish macro breweries, a perfect red ale with personality, malty, bready, sugar, hop, pleasant aromas, 05.02.19, at Epalinges.

On tap at Steamworks. Pours clear amber with a beige head. Dry caramel and bread crusts on the nose. Flavour has dry bready malts, some dry caramel, dry grass, and some minerals coming through on the finish. Decent body. Not bad.

A classical pale ale, simple but it is a correct one, fairly bitter, a bit resinous and citrus, small side of tobacco, copper body, 12.01.19, at Epalinges.

Fresh hop in January? Uh oh. On tap at Steamworks Mt Pleasant, pours a clear pale copper with a small white head. Aroma has some soapy, floral notes, lightly bitter pine, tired sweaty hops, and bready malt. Flavour is much the same, with bitter pine, sweaty notes, floral soapiness, and a bread malt. Sweaty, tired, soapy finish. Good hop varietals used, but not used well. Not good.

Nitro pour at Steamworks Mount Pleasant. Pours nearly black with a beige nitro head. Gentle earthy roast on the nose. Flavour has gentle roast, stale bread crusts. Nothing wrong, but not particularly interesting.

On tap at Steamworks Mount Pleasant. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Lots of chocolate and salted caramel on the nose. Flavour has dry roasted malts, dusty cocoa, very light salted caramel, and a touch of dried fruit. It's fine for what it is, but still pretty one-dimensional.
