Description
In 2011 we Howling Hops reopened the Cock tavern on Mare street as Hackney’s first brewpub. The brewery expanded a few times but still couldn’t really keep up with the demand. So in 2015 the brewery moved to the current address in the heart of Hackney Wick.
Howling Hops brew bold, modern, uncompromised, flavoursome, generously hopped beers. All our beers are unfiltered, unpasteurised and suitable for vegans. We still stick to our early philosophy of ‘make some interesting beer’, although not every one is different these days. We have a core of 4 beers that we brew regularly, a couple of beers we brew seasonally and every 3 or 4 weeks we brew a different single batch beer.

Cask at the Cock Tavern. Cloudy gold beer, little white head. Palate is light and dry. Modest carbonation. Skunky hop start but then there is light lemon - orange that keeps things lively. Touch of pineapple before a light dry finish. Nice beer but I share the desire of other raters of wanting to try this on keg.

Keg at the Cock Tavern. Cloudy gold beer, little white head. Palate is smooth and soft and a little dry. A sweetish beer! Sweet floral and pine hops with light orange and orange pith. Something else fruity here that I am struggling to pin down. Possibly grape. Finishes dry with medium bitter linger. Good stuff. Packed full of flavour in a low abv beer!
