Cask at the Railwaymans Arms, Bridgnorth. Poured a clear golden colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head and some clingy lace. The aroma is grainy malt, gluey, hay, light citrus.
The flavour is moderate bitter, with a smooth, malty, light woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask at Holly Bush Inn, Makeney. Almost clear golden, white head. Malty, light bodied, some fruity citrus hoppiness, light to moderate bitterness in finish. Soft carbonation. Easy drinkable.

Cask at Exeter Arms, Derby Pours completely black with a small beige head, and has low carbonation. The nose is dark fruits with a hint of alcohol. Dark fruits again in the mouth, along with liquorice and caramel. The fruits remain in the finish as well, which is where the alcoholic strength really comes through. Very nice – perfect for sitting by a roaring fire.

Cask at Exeter Arms, Derby Pours a very dark red brown with a small tan head and good lacing. A nice heady mixture in the nose, almonds , vanilla and a soupcon of coffee. In the mouth there is an initial fruitiness which soon mutates into coffee and liquorice. The finish has chocolate and roast malts. Very nice – prefer this to their Dark Drake.

Cask at Exeter Arms, Derby Pours the classic orange / brown colour of a traditional bitter with a small white head. Nose has aromas of hazelnuts and dark fruits. Nuts feature again in the mouth, alongside cherries and toffee. Finish a dry and hoppy. Quite nice – I prefer it to their other bitter (Ay Up).

Cask at Old Bell, Derby Pours chrome yellow with a small white head. Just a general hoppiness in the nose. Bitterness of hops if what hits in the mouth, along with a certain nuttiness and even a hint of cheese. The hops are what linger in the finish though. Nothing special.

Cask at Exeter Arms, Derby Pours what I would call the “classic” amber colour, with a small white head and good lacing. In the nose there are burnt oranges and hops. Oranges and lemons dominate in the mouth as well, but there is a maltiness also that gives it a nice balance. Finish has peaches come through as well. There is slight carbonation which makes it swiggable. Overall a very nice Vienna lager.
